We shot into the Famous Five stand in the first half?

Did we win the toss?

I was thinking that too on Saturday
I was wondering if Killie thought the pocket of sunshine at the South end, would distract Marshall

Did we win the toss? Pretty sure Killie won the toss. Did a team not spin us round in the League Cup last year, maybe Morton. Hate when teams do it and I am photographing the game

I deleted last seasons League Cup from my memory.

I had wondered if was maybe a NM call just to change things a wee bit

Celtic a year and a bit back. Think it was a 0-0 draw, possibly under Maloney.

It's amazing how rare it is. We play around 24 home games each season, so the away team will win the toss, on average, 12 times.

St Mirren made us shoot down the slope 1st half in 19/20. McGinn and a Boyle penalty for us, we conceded a last minute equaliser, shock horror😂

The vast majority of home teams will have a home end they like attacking second half, is there an exception where there’s a team who’ll regularly change up which ends they shoot towards at home?

Maybe it’s so rare at Easter Road as all cases it will suit the away team shooting towards the south in the second half as it’s always where their support will be as opposed to tucked away in a corner etc

In saying that I quite often find myself watching old Hibs videos from the 80s and 90s on Youtube and it seems we’d a lot more frequently than now shoot down what was then the slope in the first half back then?

Do you think that it's so you're shooting towards your own fans in the second half, so it doesn't really matter who wins the toss?

Off the top of my head Hearts generally shoot into the Gorgie Road end second half

Any team who does that should forfeit the game.

Not sure why they would - seems every second week at Easter Road there's set of players piling into an away end going bananas as the clock ticks towards 90.

A hearts supporter I know tells me they are convinced they will lose every time they have to play towards the school end second half. Despite that being the opposite of the greatest game in history.

There must be some sort of unspoken, gentlemen's agreement. If Hearts made us attack the North Stand 1st half, next time we won the toss at Tynecastle we'd make them attack the Gorgie Stand. And the same with most other clubs in the league.

We assumed Killie won the toss and changed due to the sun being in Marshall’s eyes. Noticed Marshall was well out his box at times in first half when we were going forward

Mind games. Amateur psychology etc.

Kilmarnock's stated game plan was to go for us towards the last part of the game.

We're used to, and prefer, shooting towards our own fans in the second half.

Maybe they thought that making us shoot at the south would have removed an edge in the last 15 therefore making it easier for them to capitalise.

That's because when the slope was there, it was seen as an advantage to play downhill in the second half (the other team having to attack uphill while more tired).

After we got rid of the slope (when the West stand was built, I think?) it became very uncommon for anything other than us attacking the South stand in the first half. I've always assumed teams were just happy with the default 'shoot towards your fans in the second half' and only very occasionally someone decides to mix it up.

(On Saturday Killie definitely won the toss – we kicked off in the first half.)

McInnes stated after the game that he wanted Killie to "annoy" us (his teams have certainly done that a lot over the years) so it's probably all just part of his masterplan to unsettle.

The amount of times I’ve seen a last minute equaliser fly in at the away end and that horrible silence before the away crowd celebrate. Not as many into the FF, though some memorable ones stick out - O’Connor last minute 10 men derby, Ian Murray header Mowbray era… I should really be able to remember more seeing as I sat FF lower for about 6 seasons

McInnes, who thinks he is a tactical genius, called the Killie captain over just before the toss. He obviously told Lyons to choose this option should he win the toss.

Apart from messing with our usual “ down the slope “ direction for the second half , it was the right choice on the day.

The sun was in Marshall’s eyes anytime the ball came in from the west stand side but had gone by half time.

We should stick them in the upper tier next time they are at ER
They put all the away fans in the upper tier at Rugby Park

I felt slightly less anxious during the closing stages when Kilmarnock had a bit of pressure and defending was starting to get a bit ragged, probably with having a clearer view of what was going on - fresh airs, wild clearances the lot.

When you can’t see as clearly what’s playing out in injury time goalmouth melees at other end there’s often a sense of inevitability that it’s going to result in the opposition wheeling away to celebrate with traveling fans.

Still felt odd though and upset the general routine. Felt a bit like having to sit in a different seat to the norm and things just not really feeling right.

Shooting 'Doon the slope' was indeed a major thing, certainly watching in the 70's with the Tornadoes, although the wonderful Arthur D. would
often (definitely more than once) get up such a head of steam that he'd end up off the pitch and into the advertising hoardings, which somewhat
compromised his ability to get a cross in....

Sure Morton did it to us a couple of times in the championship and got a result. Might be completely making that up. Vaguely recall it.

I can recall a derby when we went 2-0 up in the first hal going down the slope!!!! Zemmamma got one of them.

Rob Jones had a great header brilliantly saved by Craig Gordon in front of the Hearts fans near the end

Also a derby when the west stand was being built. Mixu missed a penalty in the last minute when he dinked it over the bar in the last minute, in front of the south.

Up the slope in first half. Right in front of the tiny Hearts support.

Riordan scored a last minute winner against Dunfermline a week later - Coincidentally Glass also scored with a free kick

I had a season ticket right behind the goals that year and had it there for about 5 or 6 years, row H. 04/05 was by an absolute mile my favourite ever season watching Hibs.

I remember the Glass volley vividly. A real beauty!

Seen the zemmama goal mentioned, I was in the east that day after coming straight from a night out and afterparty the previous night, rough as toast.
