Scottish football doing what Scottish Football does. It is like a bankers advantage at the casino and is completely rigged. Less contact there than Boyle's yesterday and we are all pretty much agreed that wasn't a penalty.

It was labelled as paranoia for years and maybe incompetence.

Now with var it just clarified that there is a huge biased for one club in Scotland.

The clubs should speak out about it in a vote of no confidence in the officials running our game. Sadly tho nothing will be done as the majority of people in Scotland hold the same biased.

Openly cheating now but nothing will happen.

Scottish football is its own worst enemy. I can't blame young kids anymore if they choose to follow the OF, or (as we see more and more off) just turn off to Scottish football completely and pick and English team they will only ever see on telly. If the winners are already predetermined then it isn't a sport and there is no enjoyment. For as long as I've followed Hibs the OF have always got the marginal decisions the rest never got and that was bad enough, FAR has now given officials a mechanism for 'correcting' decisions against them while ignoring the errors in their favour.
Does the league need to start employing neutral officials from other shores? Do the majority of clubs need to throw their toys out the pram and just refuse to play them? As it stands the game is a bogey.

Ref points to the spot and VAR doesn't overturn it. Yet in our semi final against Aberdeen, there was clear contact, ref doesn't point to the spot and VAR doesn't overturn it.

Anybody who still says it's incompetence and not corruption is at it.

Every other team in the league (except perhaps one) should agree to simply boycott any games against them. Sure, they'll get the 3 points by default (which is often the case anyway), but it won't ultimately effect anything in those 10 league positions. Let them have their bigotfest once every 3 months and nothing else.

Every single marauding west of Scotland supporter who invaded the pitch would have been ruled onside by the VAR team of Nick Walsh and John Beaton, swiftly followed by a penalty to Rangers when a big fat bloater in a blue top slid on his erse trying to get at understandably exuberant victorious Hibs fans.

People talk about VAR as if it's VAR itself that's the problem and not the halfwits that ultimately make the decisions. The same halfwits pre-VAR. At the very least, VAR leaves them with no excuses for their blatant bias and cheating. They can no longer hide behind the excuse of "honest mistake".

What does it matter? Anybody who watches Scottish Football is fully aware of it anyway. They don't need the media to inform them of what they can already see with their own eyes. The problem is a lack of bottle and action from the other clubs in the league. So it becomes the responsibility of us as fans to put pressure on our own club to take some form of meaningful stance. I say at least 10 of the clubs in the league should get together and agree to boycott any fixtures against them, starving their fans and club of Scottish Football until some kind of resolution is put forward.

it would matter as you could argue there would be more pressure on them to acknowledge the errors and actively demote those officials involved as we've seen in the EPL.

I do agree though that a collective representation from the other 10 clubs would be a step forward using like for like comparisons to ask the questions and request the vAR audio alongside of them for transparency. first step though could be asking our fans rep Kieran Power to take this to the board as a direct request from fans?

Doesn’t matter what anyone or any club says or does. The powers that be will not or never admit the officials were wrong regardless of the evidence and there are zero consequences for poor officiating!

Closed gang who can do what they want when they want without consequence.

Could potentially say McLean was unsighted however the VAR official should be all over it and telling him to book the player for diving.

Do we still have the compliance officer in Scotland?? If so that should be highlighted and the cheat banned for 3 games!

Yeah, I think the penalty in Sunday's game against Hearts was the first since January 2022.

They also had a run of 44 games, from January 2020 to April 2021, without conceding a single penalty in league games.

You could understand the temptation for cheating if Rangers were mid table strugglers. It’s the fact they don’t need to cheat with assistance from corrupt fellow fans/sympathisers from the Lanarkshire Refereeing association to finish in top two given the huge resources they enjoy over the rest of us. They’d mange to do that anyway without any outside influence. (Or should)

In many ways it makes it worse. The corruption is simply ingrained.

I echo what others have said - the joke isn’t funny any more.

Next season Scottish football will be trialing the orange card in selected games in the West of Glasgow.

The orange card will allow players to be given exceptions from any VAR checks in the opposition box.

Head of the orange card referee committee, Billy Hunderson, has stated that his team will staunchly inforce the orange card at all games, as per instructions from his lodge.

The orange card trial is kindly sponsored by Parks of Hamilton.

Football as a game has been ruined by the introduction of VAR. Many will say it’s not the technology but the people operating it and it’s hard to argue with that but I can’t see refs ever being good enough if I’m honest so we are best to just get rid of it and stop ruining the game

One of them was on the wireless on Saturday during open all hours (or whatever it's called) and he has the same high pitched, insufferable, nasally voice that all Scottish refs seem to have, like someone has shoved something spikey pretty far up their Archie! That's an absolute joke .... it's making a joke of our game and the worst part of it there is no collective action by 10 other clubs subject to VAR call it out.

Over one and a bit seasons there must be an absolute mountain of evidence by now of two clubs being treated differently from the others.

The joke is that if the clubs do complain the refs will no doubt spit the dummy and go on strike ... But if you don't want criticism why the hell make ridiculous decisions like that one? It was far far easier to decide it was a dive and not a penalty and nobody would have batted an eyelid .... nothing less than bias could have been responsible for the decision they did make.

About ten days ago someone produced a league table of clubs awarded and conceding penalties and it was published in some of the papers. The the rangers were second or third and hearts were top of the awarded penalty league. Clearly something had to be done about that. Since then the Orcs have have at least four awarded and will now be top.
All whilst being bottom of the conceded table of course.

How anyone can read that and not see there is institutionalised biased is beyond me. Celtic have had better attacking players than them for years and more possession of the ball, so that old one is out the window.

Absolutely incredible seeing that.

That is penalties conceded though not given?

Went onto the BBS Sports Website as a I thought even the BBC must have something about the reaction. So what did I find?

'I'm happy it's here' - Clement a big fan of VAR - BBC Sport (https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/av/football/67398852) So the The Rangers manager is a big fan of VAR and happy it's here. I wonder why?

Livingston 0-2 Rangers: Philippe Clement's side win again after VAR-dominated contest - BBC Sport (https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/67324985) 'Relaxed' Rangers ease to victory at Livingston. I suppose I'd be relaxed if I knew referees would give my team non-penalties.

The BBC report "Ross McCausland, making his first Rangers start, won his side a spot-kick after going down under the slightest of contacts from George. However, the usually reliable Tavernier put his penalty wide of the right-hand post." No mention of a dive. However, they are quick to point out the The Rangers had two goals chalked off by VAR.

I wonder how the 2016 final would have turned out if VAR was in operation that day.

Well we’d have definitely conceded a penalty for a push by Lewy

Really? Naww! Can’t be right. They spend more time diving in the box than tongue can tell. Maybe they’ve been found out then.

Edit: right enough, no penalties this season so far. Maybe this VAR thing is working after all 🙄

File under Duk, last season, 4-1 game. Duk's was even worse. He not only dived but was wide of Marshall too. I still struggle to see how that decision was not overturned. Given the semi final it is obvious we are below Aberdeen in the Scottish referee pecking order for decisions. Not sure there is anyone below us.

Genuinely believe this is the way forward. The argument has always been that it would be meaningless/hollow to win a league in which the two “best” teams were absent but it is far more meaningless and hollow to compete in a league that is so totally rigged and the introduction of VAR has actually taken us further away than ever from any semblance of a level playing field.

The authorities would just find another couple of darlings to sell their souls to. Or more likely, allow the current darlings to play a second tier team in our top flight. We’re not getting rid of them any time soon. In any case, who would want them?

The airtime particularly Aberdeen get on BBC is out of order. The amount of coverage should broadly be based on the size of a club's support base and Aberdeen fall significantly short of that of Hibs and Hearts.

All depends how it's done.

If the 40 football teams collectively resign and then set up their own league, then the authorities will have no choice but to accept it.

What then happens to the Ugly Sister will be of no concern to football.

It's at this moment my alarm usually goes off :'(

For VAR there is absolutely no reason why this function has to be carried out in Scotland. VAR adjudications are assessing technical decisions - hand-ball, offsides, red cards according to the rules of the game. The only reason for using Scottish refs for VAR is to perpetuate the status quo and ensure that the OF receive favour wherever possible.

Outsource VAR, mike up refs, or bin it,

Significantly smaller? Not sure about that. That sounds abit Jamboish to me.

I know it's not the biggest indicator but they have more Twitter followers than both Hibs and Hearts. You'd imagine that the majority of people who follow the 3 clubs are supporters, so it does give some indication.

Yes they have a smaller home attendance than us but it's not huge or significant. I think that's due to the fact they hav a lot of fans who live in the central belt making attending games at home harder. I'd hazard a guess there are significantly more Aberdeen fans in the central belt than Hibs fans in the Aberdeenshire area. This would also lend itself to the theory as to why they generally have a very big away support and tend to bring more to ER than we bring to Pittodrie.

They also have a smaller away section at Pittodrie (I think it's 2,500) than we have at ER where it's about 3,800, so our average attendance is bumped more by the visits of Sevco, Celtic and Hearts, than there is.

Overall, there isn't much between our size of supports IMO. Certainly not significantly I don't think.
