Although I have no love for the Old Firm, Sky picking Motherwell v Rangers to go live on Christmas Eve is not really on
Dundee v Celtic not as unusual as it’s on Boxing Day, but pulling a fixture back a day earlier at this time of year is poor for fans

Boxing day is much better than a Wednesday night to be fair. Also everyone played on Christmas eve last year so it’s hardly new.

People want an improved TV deal but less involvement from TV regarding moving games, can't really have it both ways

Apparently wolves & Chelsea we’re approached before it was switched not the same up here I believe

Somebody better tell Pochettino that his club agreed to it. He’s doing his nut about it getting switched.

Just had a look at our December fixtures, and it’s mental for all teams
We have 7 fixtures in December, and if we get through to the League Cup Final, the Rangers game at home will be cancelled, as it’s the weekend of the Final. Surely they can’t squeeze it on one free midweek and make it 8 games

What does the January “winter break” achieve other than fixture congestion in December?

NOTHING.
Scottish football makes a lot of odd decisions but this is the weirdest one of the lot.
A time of year when football brings a bit of cheer to an otherwise fairly bleak time of year, and they take it away.
Then the pile in all the fixtures at the most expensive time of year. £200 or thereabouts to follow your football team in December is ****ing ridiculous.

It’s crazy. There’s absolutely no guarantee that January will have the most inclement weather which is my understanding as to why we have a break.

:agree:
It really makes no sense at all. I’m pretty sure we even remarkably manage to start our fixtures perfectly in time for the international tournaments that are played round about then so that teams lose players having not played for weeks previously.

Anniversary with his Mrs and then the 24th is a big day for Argentine people.
He won't have to worry. He'll be sacked by then.

I've never seen the point of the winter break. We squeeze so many games into December and there is no guarantee that in that 3 week period the weather will be any worse than any other time. Tbh, we're more likely to get games called off in Feb or March and cause more congestion.

Nothing. As has been the case over some years recently the weather has actually been far worse in December than the January that followed. Utterly pointless
Cram in 7 games in what is already the most expensive month of the year, when most will also on top of that have Xmas parties, be spending time with family etc.
As if the clowns running the game here would have even considered any of that though.
