Are golf umbrellas aloud in? I walked into Tynecastle with mine for the last derby, nobody said anything.

My Sister was refused entry at a U2 concert at Murrayfield with an umbrella, we had pitch tickets. Was told it could be used as an offensive weapon by a security person. Their supervisor saw common sense. Have taken a golf brolly into Easter Road on a couple of occasions

He's here!

While I assume folk are asking this question about umbrellas you've used on the way to the match, there's footage from our 1-0 win over Liverpool in the 70s when it was tipping it down and you can see the odd umbrella on the open East terracing. Must have annoyed anyone standing behind.

I guess one advantage of the grim crowds of the early 80s would have been that you could probably find the space to stand with an umbrella and not block anyone's view.

I took a golf umbrella into Queen of the south when we were in amongst the dross for a few seasons, it was pissing it down.

I placed myself up against the back with nobody behind me behind the open goal. A steward told me i couldnt put it up, i asked why and he would not give me a reason.

I told him to grow up and refused, next thing a policeman came over and explained it was because i could block someones view. :faf:

I pointed out where i was standing, and the steward was an idiot, he laughed and said fair enough and left.

You could also just move to a clear view.

If that's the 1-1 game in 2016 then it's the wettest I've ever been. I think the rain started about 15 minutes into the game and it pissed down continually. We were still soaked through on the train back to Carlisle and then the train from Carlisle to Edinburgh too.

I’d argue Cowdenbeath away in the League was even wetter. It tipped it down for the whole game.

There’s signs at Ross County saying no umbrellas allowed

I thought it was 0-0 but to be perfectly honest, the umbrella incident is all i remember of the match. :dunno:

I actually had the big golf fella that day behind the goals. Wet as a wee wet day that was. Had to wait on the van boiling the kettle for a cuppa.

I’ll throw in a Mixu tenure pre season friendly in Fife. Abandoned at half time.

if it’s the same game I’m thinking of it was Yogi era and a game against Raith Rovers. And absolute monsoon. One of the fooodlights failed and they couldn’t get it back in - match abandons at half time. Raining in biblical proportions that day. PlYers instantly soaked righ through after entering the pitch.

they made sure there was enough time to sell out the catering before abandonment ;)

thr rain was so heavy the drains couldn’t cope and we’re surging up across streets more like a river.

also notable that day in the dry warmup period a stray shot was met clean on the head by a fan which drew a round of applause iirc.

I still get an earful now for taking the bairn in a light coat that day, character building

Only time I've went home had a hot bath and spent the night thawing out it was miserable all day there.

Could be right about it being Yogis era.

Would you believe it if I told you I was that Baldy fan with the header? Straight back up the park from Colin Nish. Never even unfolded my arms.

The pub down the bottom of the hill was knee high in water.
