I'm off to Naples next weekend and going to the Napoli game. Anyone know the current rules about buying tickets in Italy? From reading stuff online I thought I wouldn't be able to buy except in person and have to take my passport but I went on their website to see what was on sale last night and got right through the buying process and now have 2 tix in my apple wallet. So, hoping that's fine and I can just turn up and get in, but anyone know for sure?

Was at San Siro end of last season and had e tickets like you. Everyone had to show photo id to Italian police before progressing to the turnstiles. Everyone. Might be different for Napoli but worth taking either your passport or drivers licence just to be safe.

Yeah that mirrors my experience in Florence watching Fiorentina. Passport needed to get through 2 lots of security

When we had to show photo id at the San Siro I showed a bus pass and my pal showed his membership card for the Egg club night at the Wee Red Bar (which he had also used at passport control)

Do Italians not have national ID cards like Spain. So ineffect ALL adults in Italy are supposed to carry photo I'd weather your going to the football, museum, Vatican or the beach. Doesn't matter, where your going its the law to carry it.
Like I said, Spain is the same. Supposed to carry photo ID on you ar all times. Even on holiday. British folk take no notice of it though.

I saw Roma at the Olimpico not long ago - bought the tickets online as E-tickets, but we had to show passports at the turnstiles when we arrived.

Never buy tickets outside the ground from random sellers. All tickets have a name, and must have a corresponding ID to match. I’ve got a pal who bought a ticket outside the San Siro for €100 from a random seller - when he got to the turnstile and showed his ID he got knocked back because the ticket had someone else’s name on it. Naturally the person he’d bought it from had long done a runner.

I loved it but it was absolutely bonkers, never been in a city like it in my life. God knows what a game would be like.

And yes, keep your hands on your wallet and phone at all times

Was in Napoli for a week last year and absolutely loved it, llocals were great food fantastic and the cheap red wine in the local shop was cracking for the price.

Napoli is a fine city on a wonderful coastline and well worth a visit though the football stadium is not easy to get to involving an incredibly packed train.

No problems whatsoever in the city and helpful and friendly locals.

Was there last summer and loved it as well. Although we did see someone getting their bag snatched the moment we stepped out of the taxi from the airport!

It’s a great city. Like all cities you need to try to be streetwise but so much to see and do with amazing food and wine.
