I wondered if the logic might be resting rather than dropping. Realistically I think Doidge and ALF will alternate a fair amount through the season, meaning Doidge needs to get enough game time even if ALF might have the legs for this game.

Would be harsh on ALF, keep him fresh for Saturday.

Wonder also if Hanlon for Rocky and Lewis for Obita?

Would like to see Levitt at some point.

Interesting to see how the 442 formation works against a team like at Mirren who are high energy, especially in midfield with guys like Ohara

I think he might wait until the weekend to bring Hanlon back in. I reckon you limit change going into a "must win"

It would be harsh to drop Alf though might be the right call for this one , Doidge gives us more height not just attacking but when defending set pieces too .

Alf and Vente do seem to work well together. Rather than a super sun it’s maybe worth having a super starter and bringing on Doidge or someone later on.

Same starting XI from Saturday minus Jair for Youan. Only other potential changes are Levitt and Doidge coming in for Jeggo/Alf but I suspect all 4 will get game time at some point. I’m assuming this will got to extra time/pens on the night🤔

Youan replaces Jair for sure, Hanlon maybe replaces Rocky but apart from that as it was at weekend

More rested than dropped. Doidge is flying just now and ALF is a great option from the bench.

Sounds obvious but the best team we have available within reason.

I'm not against the likes of Obita for Stevenson, ALF for Doidge, and Rocky for Hanlon etc if we think some guys needs a rest, we actually have a fairly decent sized and capable squad and managing their legs will be important. But I wouldn't like to see us make wholesale changes because it's a cup etc.

I'm with this regarding limited changes, I'm just wondering if Monty feels confident in changing a few.

I expect Whittaker to be in the squad again after Saturday.

For me a couple of changes needed from the team at the weekend

Out - Tavares, Bushiri

In - Youan, Hanlon

Let's get back to Hampden!

Why Rocky as a matter of interest?

Why Rocky as a matter of interest?

He cost us 2points at Rugby Park, I think he's generally a liability (both positionally and on the ball) - and personally just think Hanlon is a much better option for us in an important game

Personally I didn't think Rocky was solely to blame for the two points dropped at rugby park . Actually like him tbh and thought he had a good game against St Johnstone which is why I wondered why you'd drop him. Think Monty likes him as he's mobile and drives forward with the ball too . Fair enough opinion about Hanlon though 👍

Don’t agree Rocky solely cost us the two points at Killie

The whole back four was to blame

NM said Lewis needed to tuck in for the first and Rocky was shoved in the back for the second

Rocky was fine on Saturday but agree at this point in time Hanlon gets the nod over Rocky at left centre back

Fish is looking better after a dodgy start

Would like to see more of Harbottle but sure he will get his chance

I would go with the strongest team available and not 'save' people for the weekend - with Celtic out this is a really good chance to win some silverware. With the way St Mirren play I would harshly have ALF on the bench to allow Doidge to ruffle a few feathers and then bring him on later on.

Whatever the starting 11 we need to be on it straight away

They’ve got a team full of energy so we can’t be carrying any passengers or we’ll be found out quick

Early goal could be huge for us

Will also be interesting to see what changes he makes during the game. You would think he would want a look at Levitt at some point. I hope Mark O'Hara misses this game, that would be a real bonus for us if he does.

Agree with this, O’Hara is a tremendous player.

Why his ‘first mistake’ ? Playing hun saw us get 4 points from 6 so far. I totally agree you play Youan ahead of him but it’s not a mistake to play Jair when in his two games (albeit first one was for a few minutes) we are unbeaten when he’s played. I hoping NM and the new coaches bring out the best in him over the next few games. He’s obviously impressing in the training environment enough to be selected again.

Realises he needs games to unpick his potential.

Big, solid, quick CB who just needs to learn where to be a bit better to avoid any need to be rash

Hasn’t taken to Hanlon has he?

I do worry that the lack of a left sided centre half will hurt us

Maybe Hanlon not yet 100%? Or is but doesn’t want to change things.. I’m sure he’ll play his part and Monters will like him fine.

I’m not worried about the left-sided thing at all. Never have been. If we’re defending properly that’ll do me.

I think you could be right. Hanlon isn't going to get any better at his age, whereas Rocky there is that potential.
