Looks a much more effective player under Montgomery. Perhaps it’s the influence of someone who knows his game. Newell always seems a better player when he’s in the team. His anticipation and reading of the game is first class. It’s a pity he doesn’t have more skill on the ball or a greater passing range but within these limitations he’s managing to be a stand out.

Thought he was really good yesterday, seen a few strange comments on here since the game yesterday, when the young lad came on you could see him saying to Miller to make sure they talk to each other as well which was pretty good, very underrated player

Seems to be the best pairing jeggo and newell, so no requirement for a more creative midfielder then ? something i thought we were missing tbh..

youan, boyle and le fondre there to be creative. Vente scoring for fun..

seems a plan, but different dynamic if jeggo or newell get injured and levitt comes in

He’s been brilliant since coming on against Villa in the first leg imo.

Also interesting to hear Newell praise him so much in the DTS interview.

My thoughts exactly did not look out of place in such exalted company even his passing and awareness seems to have improved

As others have said has built a good understanding with JN in midfield

Playing a lot more box 2 box now instead of sitting

That was there last season- Joe mentioned in the podcast through the week how Jeggo coming in January was one of the reasons he felt midfield did better through spring.
He was good at Aberdeen away and Villa away under SDG so maybe just LJ leaving was the release.

You could see the difference against Hearts on his debut but the horse had already bolted

Another we could have done with getting in earlier

He is here now with a preseason under his belt

The future’s bright the future’s green and white

He improved our midfield a lot last season, he's the kind of signing that goes under the radar because he's not getting goals and assists very often.

But I bet if you looked at games with / without Jeggo in the team it would show a noticeable uptick in points per game with Jim in the side.

He's been playing well for weeks, imo.

Totally agree. He’s first class off the ball, and we always look way more solid when he’s in the team.

I think your right,I have been reading he can't pass but this season he has done well,His job is to break up play not to spray 30,40 yard passes about.Him and newell have a good partnership going in my opinion, that's not to say the midfield shouldn't be changed depending on the opposition
