Looks like a good idea and a great opening offer too.

Hasten to add I am not involved at all just thought it might interest people.

Does this mean Pat has moved on from the evening news, or is this in addition?

Think he has moved on as a different guy seems to be covering Hibs there now.

Thanks for the heads up on this, have signed up as enjoyed Patrick McPartlin's coverage when he was at EEN.

Very reasonable offer for £1 for 6 months.

John Greechan is now covering Hibs for the EEN.

Nice to see the Herald give the Edinburgh clubs a bit of attention with this - hopefully it takes off and the subscription model allows less click bait coverage of the club.

Another west coaster doing Hibs stuff? Hibs are so massive we're starting to steal fans from the west.

Absolutely worth an initial £1 to see what it's like for six months. I'm sure it'll be good quality stuff.

They will be.

They are both owned by the group that own The Herald, Glasgow Evening Times and a whole host of other newspapers and news sites. Obviously the content will be different but the design, format etc will be almost identical on both.

Just reading the post-game content on the Hibs Observer now. Genuinely very good. Massively impressed.

I think this is a great idea well worth supporting. Hope it succeeds because on the basis of the content over the first week it is well worth it!

Just stumbled across a couple of Hibs Observer videos on YouTube and decided it was definitely worth a punt on the £1 subscription for 6 months offer. Their website looks very slick and professional too. https://www.hibsobserver.co.uk/

It'll be interesting to see how it develops as the season goes on. You can never have too much Hibs content. :aok:

I've signed up so looking forward to seeing how it develops.

Has anyone noticed the background to their video though? It's terrible. Who are those people? There are at least 3 different shirt sponsors among the crowd, McBean, Calor and Bevvy, and the fans' faces look plastic. :hilarious

Hi folks, Patrick from the Hibs Observer here - just wanted to say thank you to everyone for their kind comments so far. The first few weeks have been good, but we've got a lot more up our sleeves that we're looking forward to bringing you in the future.

Our £1 subscription offer is still available (https://www.hibsobserver.co.uk/subscribe/) but - and hopefully I'm not contravening any forum rules here - it is just an introductory offer and won't be an option forever, so if you're still swithering over subscribing, then you might want to do so sooner rather than later! I'm naturally biased, but I think it's a pretty reasonable deal to get a feel for what we're doing and access to all our articles.

Thanks again for your support and if you have any questions, comments, suggestions then feel free to contact me on Twitter (https://twitter.com/p_mcpartlin) or put them in the thread here and I'll get back to you.

It's an image of the fans at Villa Park (hence the different shirt sponsors) that was heavily digitally altered in a bid to ensure no one was immediately identifiable or recognisable. However, it's something we could look at changing. Thanks for the feedback!

Hi Patrick. I'm really enjoying the content you are providing.

A couple of small things. On the Video tab on the web pages there are only 3 videos showing (see screen grab below) however I can see from the YouTube channel there are a lot more.

The videos are good and I like hearing the full press interviews with Monty and players though the sound quality/volume from them is quite poor, making them difficult to hear when I'm outside. I appreciate you're probably using a phone for them, you can get a decent microphone for around £20 (if you're not already using one).
https://www.amazon.co.uk/s?k=phone+microphone&crid=3BGZ97PMOPRV7&sprefix=phone+micr%2Caps%2C124&ref=nb_sb_ss_ts-doa-p_1_10

Doing a video right after the final whistle is a great idea, from the likes of the bowels of Tynecastle. I bet that's the 1st time someone's thought you might be Michael Stewart. The volume on that one was a lot better, maybe just because you and Liam are that little bit closer to the phone than you can put it for Monty.

Anyway, keep up the good work.

Videos
The video tab issue is something we're aware of and stems from a quirk in terms of article tagging but it's also something we should have sorted, potentially by close of play today, and so there should be a few more video articles appearing in that section this evening.

Sound quality / volume
We are actually using decent microphones because we wanted to avoid any problems that might arise from pinning all our hopes on a mobile phone...! But you raise a good point about watching the videos outside, so we'll definitely look to turn up the volume which should hopefully make the audio levels better. The set-up of the post-match press conferences isn't always ideal for filming but we can certainly try to improve the quality of the recordings.

Post-match videos
Ironically the video from Tynecastle was done straight onto a laptop, so no phones or microphones involved! But the surroundings were quieter which may have helped. Can also confirm that it wasn't me who was mistaken for Michael Stewart... this time!

Hope that all makes sense, and thanks again for your feedback and support!

I have also taken up the subs offer and I'm enjoying the content.

Just a couple of thoughts and observations:

I enjoy the pre-match articles as part of the build up, but it would be good to have more information about the opposition - potential lines ups, injury worries, players to watch..key head to heads. My knoweldge of other teams isn't always that great, so I'd enjoy more pre-match analysis like that.

The incoherent ramblings of Tam McManus already seem to get everywhere, running a nothing article about what he's said in the Daily Record seemed a bit poitless, if I wanted to read the drivel they produce I go to their website.

Maybe I'm just nostalgic for old copies of Shoot or 1970's programmes, but I'd enjoy a regular quick fire questions column with Hibs players in an old skool way - What car they drive - Favourite band or pre match music - who is worst dressed player at Hibs - Who is best dressed player - footballing hero - Golf handicap - favourite movie - have they ever read a book !

It's probably outwith your budget, but a monthly report from Pat Nevin about how Hibs are progressing/ his take on how the new management team are moulding the squad would be a great read as Pat is different class.

keep up the good work

Pre-match opposition analysis
This is something we're looking at doing more of. Our focus is obviously Hibs, but we did try one ahead of the derby (here (https://www.hibsobserver.co.uk/tactics/23837383.hibs-can-exploit-hearts-weaknesses-edinburgh-derby/)) and we're planning more of that type of article which should hopefully tick a box for you.

McManus comments
Thanks for flagging this - I think there's always going to be the possibility of similar articles, for a few good reasons. But it won't always be about a Tam McManus column in a newspaper and hopefully there won't be too much of it happening.

Player Q&As
This is something I've had on my wish list since the beginning! Definitely think there's room for lighter pieces like this. Watch this space...

Pat Nevin
I'm not sure about getting him to do a regular report, but he's on our list of people to speak to!

It's an image of the fans at Villa Park (hence the different shirt sponsors) that was heavily digitally altered in a bid to ensure no one was immediately identifiable or recognisable. However, it's something we could look at changing. Thanks for the feedback!I'm really enjoying the offering, personally I think you've really found a gap in the market and it's exactly what I want to read. Hibs focussed stuff that reads as though you genuinely watch Hibs, not the usual drivel from BBC.

I have a suggestion, it's more of a request for additional content than any feedback on your existing stuff.

When I leave the ground, I'll stick the radio on because I immediately want to hear reactions from others on the game. I'll be walking home or in the car and the only offering right now is sportsound, which if you're lucky they'll mention the game for 2 minutes and then back to talking about Celtic, Rangers. For the 2 minutes you do get on Hibs, it's just the same old rubbish from people who have probably watched 30 mins of Hibs all season via highlight reels alone.

I would love a Hibs focussed live radio/podcast type thing immediately after the game to gauge reactions from people who actually know about Hibs and the game. You could stick it on in the car or the radio on the way home from the match.

Who knows maybe it's one more for the podcast folks on here rather than the Hibs Observer, but it's certainly something I'd sign up for.

Hi HM, thanks for your support and feedback. I suppose the main issues are that a) there are only two of us and b) we have no control over how long the manager and players will take to appear for the post-match press conferences. It's then a case of trying to get all our articles finished, and the post-match discussion video filmed, before we get chased out of whichever stadium we're in!

The post-match discussion video is essentially us trying to do something as similar as possible to what you're talking about. A podcast element is something we're looking at in terms of coverage but at the moment it's not logistically possible to do it in the way you describe.

Hi Patrick
I,and i guess other Hibernians would be interested to know ,apart from playing for a great club,if there are other non football reasons why players, mainly those from other UK countries and abroad, choose Hibs.
Edinburgh itself of course is world renowned with some lovely towns and villages nearby for players to stay, particularly those with families.
I have read that some wives, who had not been to Edinburgh before, love being here.
Maybe its just George Street !!!:greengrin For the men too !:agree:

So good to read a publication focused on the Hibees - without the impenetrable pop-ups - the traditional outlets do need to really address that. Looking forward to reading more… (managed to sign up on. Chrome after Safari issues.)

I’d be interested in understanding how we help players integrate into the community - something I think one of the former reps (Tracey?) moved into. And if we as a Hibernian family - which is diverse - could help too.

Thank you for your kind words, VP, and your support! One thing we were very clear on from the outset was having clean article pages and keeping ads to a minimum to improve the reader's experience as it does make such a difference so glad you're finding that to be the case. Thanks also for flagging the Safari issue - there are still a few teething problems but we're doing our best to iron them out ASAP (if you can iron out teething problems that is!)

In terms of your suggestion, that's certainly something we can look at doing something on. Cheers!

Signed up week 1 or 2 and absolutely loving it. Can't get enough tbh.
Would love to read interviews with every department at ER from the ticket staff who have to deal with season tickets and cup semis etc.
The Groundsmen at ER and HTC
A typical day in the day of the Hibs announcer.

Just add my voice to the happy subscribers, it really is a great platform well done to both involved, the recent articles on Rocky and levitt where cracking reads, I’d love the same type long reads about other aspects of the club as well especially Brian mcd’s role and the recruitment side of things.

A great introductory offer I’m happy to have taken advantage of will definitely be continuing once the 6 months has expired

As a new outlet we're relying heavily on word of mouth and social media and we appreciate that not everyone is across Twitter or Facebook like we are, so any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

As a new outlet we're relying heavily on word of mouth and social media and we appreciate that not everyone is across Twitter or Facebook like we are, so any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Our introductory offer is still running (http://www.hibsobserver.co.uk/subscribe) if they need further convincing! :greengrin

Could you afford to print flyers and pass them out at the Holy Ground approach, turnstiles, Hibs club, matchday popular boozers in ER and The Walk next couple of home games for a wee boost ?!

Morning folks,

Hopefully this is allowed and I won't incur the wrath of the admins!

We're running a competition over on the Hibs Observer (https://www.hibsobserver.co.uk/subscribe/) this week - we have two tickets to Saturday's semi-final to give away to Hibs fans.

All you need to do to enter is subscribe to our site (you can do that here: hibsobserver.co.uk/subscribe (https://www.hibsobserver.co.uk/subscribe/)) and cross your fingers! Existing subscribers have automatically been entered into the draw.

Thank you for your continued support and good luck!

Nice. I subscribed the other week and have been really enjoying the content. Well worth the introductory offer.
