Enjoyed the podcast as usual Matty 👍. I think the the Killie games coming abit to soon to see any notable changes in how we play under Monty , maybe formation might be 4-4-2 though . In the long-term what do we think will be the difference in the way we play under Monty?

If he sets your team up like he did mine at the Mariners, it'll be high pressing and lethal transitions.
Expect counter attacking football but also a relentless press.

4-4-2 that switches to 4-2-2-2 with the wingers cutting inside and fullbacks overlapping.

I hope we see a clearer system that the players are comfortable with. I don't think we had that under Johnson, so if it's 442 I would expect us to be cohesive in attack and defence. The biggest change I am expecting/hoping to see is in the effort/determination to win side of things. It looks like Montgomery is a great motivator and man-manager, so getting the best out of this squad will see us win more than we lose.

I’m looking forward to Monty’s style but if he starts taking two players off during our attacks he can do one as far as I’m concerned.

4-2-2 leaves us 2 players short 😁

The 4-2-2 post was corrected to 4-2-2-2.

Wouldn't have a great knowledge of how Monty had Mariner's playing apart from the odd bit of footage seen on utube . Was impressed how mariners demolished Melbourne in the final though . Thanks for sharing your opinion mate 👍

'Lethal transitions' sounds pretty dangerous. Not to mention illegal?

That's a genuinely encouraging post. Too many managers have been focused on possession at Hibs, 60% with no chances, whilst football has evolved from possession to transition football in the last 4/5 years. Even Pep is evolving his style for it.

To have a manager that wants to exploit that, something that should be perfectly doable in the scottish leagues given its frantic style of play is exciting.

Trying to think of a lethal transitional player we have in our side. My mind has gone blank.

It's early doors, so all I'm hoping for is more defensive organisation and fewer stupid goals given away.

If Montgomery can achieve this with the lot he has just now, I will be satisfied.

Assuming Boyle is fit, he'll be pretty good in Monty's setup. We didn't have anyone with that kind of speed at the Mariners.

Seems to be recovered but maybe not 100%. Youan on the other side is also quick albeit he is a bit rawer and still to learn certain aspects.

Is no one ever gonna learn that counter attacking in this league is NOT gonna work as your main style of play if your Hibernian FC. More than half the teams will just sit in against us and happily take the point.

Is counter attacking going to be our main style though ? . I am kind of expecting us to be a more balanced team under Monty , definitely more organised at the back , pressing for the ball when we don't have it and attacking in numbers when we do . By the way Monty's talking I also expect the team to be very hardworking as he's mentioned that a few times . Think our forward player's will really suit how he wants us to play tbh .
