Let's hope the Victor Meldrew Hibbys give the new manager 100% backing.
As usual the grumpy gits will find faults no matter who it is immediately.

I'll be right behind the new manager whether they're my first choice or not. I think it's fine to discuss the runners and riders in the meantime though, no?

Exactly, and I don't think there's a Hibs fan in the world that's any different. I wasn't cock-a-hoop when we got LJ but he had my backing until the Livi game, although the strength of backing had been on the decline for a while let's say.

Whoever gets the gig, even if it's Neil Lennon, will have the support onside until such time as the team's performances gets them offside.

Same here.

Also feeling more confident that the club will choose the right man this time having learnt from their previous mistakes.

Big call for Ian Gordon.

Honestly, because of inherent prejudices I think that it will be impossible to find a Manager that will win Universal acceptance. Basically you can exclude anyone who is currently employed in the Scottish Premier League, or has managed in it, unless it is Ange. Short of unveiling Klopp or Guardiola*, the board is on a hiding to nothing. It’s all very depressing.

*I’m sure some would find issue with them also.

When you look at the comments on the new manager thread you’re right, it’ll be difficult to please all or even a majority.

Plenty don’t like Lennon. And anybody who has made any mistakes in life won’t be welcomed by plenty. Beyond that there will be the usual debate on ability to do the job.

Whoever gets it needs to get results quickly.

I really, really tried to back Johnson. I got into a heated argument with a fair few on here when I tried to excuse a defeat away at Killie last season by saying he had been hung out to dry by the recruitment.

I'll really try to back the next guy as well even if he isn't my 1st, 2nd or 10th choice. After that initial new manager optimism fades it comes down to performance and results though. Johnson lost a sizeable number of fans because of those factors, pretty much from the start after the LC debacle.

There will always be managers some won't take to but if the going is good it's easy to shut them up. Hopefully the next guy does that in style.

Think it would help if we appoint a manager without any baggage and who comes with good reviews.

Ross came with a reputation from Sunderland for not winning the big games and fairly regularly throwing in a shocker of a performance out of the blue. Johnson came with his Brent comparison and that he finds a formula until it stops working and then he goes through selections and formulas until something else works for a time and that he was streaky. Those things rung true for them both at Hibs. It would be good to have a manager that comes with positive reports from his previous clubs.

We’ve probably never had a manager who was universally liked by the fanbase.

Same for most clubs that don’t dominate their leagues I’d imagine.

What he have done, is back the club in huge numbers the last few years. I don’t see that stopping any time soon.

The new guy will get the fans’ backing, I’ve absolutely no doubt about it. If a few people moan on here, fine, no harm in it.

I literally don't know what this means. If it's just cut the new manager some initial slack even if he/she isn't our own preferred choice that's one thing, if it's a vow of North Korean obedience regardless of actions, words and outcomes then no. Apart from anything else I'll want to see the chart of approved hairstyles first.

Personally I think there is only one Person who will bring all the Hibs fans together and that man is Steve Clark.
I would be happy with Lennon returning. He is respected in the game and is a winner.
As for the fans who say he sold us down the river when he went back to Celtic we would all do the same thing if the she was on the other foot.
If you were at Celtic and Hibs came calling for your services throwing much more salary at you and you being a Hibs fan we would all do the same.
As for his record with Hibs he won us promotion. We were much harder to beat, yes we lost quite a few games in the end but it was obvious the board and
himself had disagreements at the time and the working relationship had soured. If we want someone new Robinson would be a good shout and as he previously
worked with Motherwell ask him to bring their scout with him as he seems to find all these players. I would also be happy with Michael O'Neill or John Collins.

For me, there's two more important factors to consider: 1) How white is their teeth, and 2) Will they be making the mistake of wearing jogging bottoms.

They'll all get backing from the start but you can quickly form an opinion on a manager.

Lennon - Was wanting him out for ages and was delighted when he was "mutually consented".
Hecky - Thought he should have got longer but wasn't overly disappointed he was sacked.
Ross - Still don't agree with his sacking
Maloney - Became apparent very early on he was miles out his depth and wanted him gone.
Johnson - Backed him right up until the Livingston game. Pendulum swung for me, and the board too it seemed.

Some will get backing, some wont. That won't change with the new guy either. It's all about opinions i guess!

No he wouldn’t. He had as good a record against Celtic as you’re likely to get from a Hibs manager.
He said it himself; when he managed Hibs he could not bring himself to celebrate when we scored against his beloved Celtic. I could not believe a so-called professional could say that. No way should he ever be anywhere near ER again.

We watch players do it all the time. How many players have you seen score against their former club and refuse to celebrate? It’s almost more common for them to do that than for them to actually celebrate.

I couldn’t care less if he was sitting on the bench greeting if he had us playing like we did against them more often than not in his first spell. The day they came to Easter Road to win the league and we beat them for example.

Was only last week McGinn said he wouldn’t celebrate against us if he scored against us.
