To Hibs fans, what do we want?

To win at all costs and hang the football?

Total football and hope the league table responds well to nice football?

I think we are confused as to what we want.

I want to enjoy going to Easter Road more often than not.

To win more often than we lose.

If you win, performances will come naturally. It’s hard to consistently win playing poorly.

When do we want it?

I think the style thing we all seemingly crave is exaggerated, a good team that can mix it up would suit me, Big Ecks team although some great footballer still had guys like John O’Neil Stuart Lovell Matty jack who could roll the sleeves up and graft for points when required I don’t think there’s anyone expecting total football at ER we just don’t want a creek in our necks watching the ball punted from one end to another for a full 90mins

Ideally somebody with a decent knowledge of the Scottish game.

First thing the new manager needs to do is make our defending of crosses miles better.

Went for something else. A balanced team with consistent performers would be a refreshing change from the usual hit and miss approach.

I don’t feel it’s a choice between doing well and getting results or playing attractive football, why can’t we do both?

I want to break free!

Oh and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in charge, he will get the best out of Melkersen.

First and foremost winning football. This pretty boy stuff has been a millstone around the club's neck for bloody years, we talk constantly about the Hibs way and all that, but how often do we actually get it, a couple of seasons out of every 15 or something?

Every, and I mean every, team in this country who have had success outwith the Uglies has been able to mix it ... the first thing the Aberdeen and Dundee United teams of the 80s did was ensure they weren't going to lose the physical battle, Ferguson's Aberdeen in particular were nothing short of nasty at times.

Who were the two players in Stubbs team we remember with the most fondness? SJM and Marvin Bartley, totally different players but one thing in common, good luck trying to bully either one of them.

No I'm not advocating industrial hoofball, but if there's one thing this club needs above anything at the moment it's a physically brutal centre half and a nasty horrible wee ( or big ) bugger in midfield who doesn't give you a minutes peace and thinks nothing about leaving a foot in.

Of all the managers on the list, realistic or wildly optimistic McInnes is probably the one most likely to deliver that. You have to be a bit more subtle these days than in the 80s with football practically being reduced to a non contact sport, but anybody who watched his Aberdeen at ER knows full well McInnes knows how to get round that ... the absolute master of fouling in rotation.

Want a manager to come in and make us hard to beat , strong defence with a solid spine and build from there. You don’t concede goals you don’t loose games , never confident of us getting a clean sheet.
Don’t think defensively we have these players or Johnson didn’t play them , midfield is a problem
but would say in Boyle , Vente and Youang we have enough up front already to cause team’s problems.

Playing players in the correct positions would be a start, some sort of structure in the line up as well, perhaps? Can adapt and make changes during tougher games. I wouldn't mind us playing in a way that makes us hard to break down in games that merited that style but also be able to attacking football when we are more likely to control the game.

I want good football but we’re murder just now so I think we need to get our house in order. We need to be fitter, much more organised, a bit nasty and hard to beat. Get a culture in place that makes us grind out results and then work on the sexy football when we’ve got the basics right. We’re miles off it.

Which brings me to one of my favourite suggestions, which I look forward to being ridiculed for ... again :greengrin ... but I don't care.

IMO I simply don't see what would be wrong with giving Rocky a go as a defensive midfield player, he doesn't lack the pace required to get over to cover either fullback and he certainly has the physicality to mix it if he has to. But he's also not afraid to get hold of the ball and bring it up the pitch. A wee bit of coaching to instill in him that it's his job to get the ball to the likes of Newell or Levitt playing in front of him and it could work out ..... he wouldn't be the first player to be a revelation after being moved from his so called 'natural' position.

Something else. I found the poll options limited and generally a strange poll.

Let's just win football matches.

McInnes is the perfect man to do that.

If you play well and win then great if you play crap and still win then great, just want a team that wins more games than it loses.
