One of the benefits of a Director of Football is that we should have an idea of who our next manager is well in advance of sacking the old manager.

Brian McDermott should already be making moves on the guys at the top of that list, the board can't afford to take the time taken to hire Johnson this time.

I agree. There should already be a 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice in mind before sacking any manager. There needs to be stability as soon as possible and the club should not be left in limbo for any longer than is required. If the board has any sense of awareness then they would have seen this situation coming and will have put provisory plans in place for the managerial transition.

I'd agree Aberdeen too important to still go with a caretaker unless SDG does a Barry Robson...

With every loss the next league game just gets tougher

Hope you right , watching Villa looking impressive again currently 3-1 up away to Burnley .
Hopefully they will rest a few on Thursday .
I think Gray will be in charge until after Aberdeen game which takes us up to the international break.
Shouldn’t play any part in it but not sure what long term plans are with Gray but wouldn’t expect anything to happen with him until after his testimonial dinner on 9th September unless the new manager is in place and wants to keep him.
