They were right to stick with him last season and give him this window. We chopped and changed too much. But they were right to let him go at this point. It wasn’t working it and I really doubt it was ever going to. So well done the board.

The correct decision, probably at the correct time.
Now let’s get the next appointment right.

I agree

Yesterday was abysmal

Not for me. Need to take a long look at themselves. A 9 hour interview or whatever it was with LJ after an extensive search then sack him a year later? Between him and JDT. Those were really the final two? Incredible. Kensell needs to hand his notice in. This is on them.

He was very lucky to keep his position over the World Cup and into the new year. Now we’ve spent millions on players approved by Johnson. I’m not sure I’d give them much credit here, to be honest.

They employed him In the first place, a mistake and gave him the last transfer window over the summer. Another mistake.
The board is wholly culpable for the mess we are in footballing wise, not well done at all.

The problem with our board, is they are mainly business people. Until BM cane in recently, non football people were making football decisions

:agree: it was obvious early on he was a dud but we had a wee purple patch last autumn when Magennis was fit that kept him in the job.

Thats the reason we have a director of football in Mcdermott. Our signings of Youan, Vente, Levitt, Obita are still good signings. Harbottle has looked like a decent centre back aswell but he aint a right back.

I’m pretty sure the likes of Youan, Levitt and Vente are all very much approved signings by the fans as well. We just need a manager who knows how to play our players. Signings have been good (although we are still short in midfield and defence…).

I don’t think the board has covered itself in any glory. Johnson’s appointment is another managerial failure for the club in a hefty list of managerial failures. They now have an opportunity to put that right.

Well played? They're at fault for appointing him in the first place surely?
And utter disaster of an appointment.

We finished 5th and had a go in Europe - butcher was an utter disaster
This - more disappointing

Well, I suppose in the history of Hibs' managerial appointments over the past few decades, it's all relative!
It's not been good though....

The club are not a shambles in most other areas, just on the pitch it's not been working out, through no lack of investment from the Gordon's.

Hard to disagree. In this era the corporate bull****ting types tend to stick together. He probably talked a slick game and it was enough for that ilk.
He's here!

Not so sure he was a badly judged appointment. Obviously it hasn't worked out but if you look at his overall managerial record I think the board were entitled to think he could be a solid fit at Hibs

Okay so in the most important area and in the only area we all care about we are a shambles.

We are a football team, that’s all I care about
As for the Gordon’s I’ve no idea how much they’ve invested in Hibs, other than buying us
The loans they gave us all have to be repaid. I’m presuming that’s how they make money from Hibs, which is their right as owners

Football is a results business. The results of the last 2 manager appointments have been abysmal. There are no awards or congrats for a Board which gets the biggest decisions so badly wrong. Sacking LJ just kicks that can down the road unless the fools that run our club find some luck or competency in recruitment.

Yes, but it’s still time and money that could have been put into a management regime that had even the slightest chance of being successful. Johnson was doomed from the start.
I’m impressed with most of our signing this year, to be clear.

Nah, he was evidently hopeless from day one. The league Cup last year was a disaster. Then he won a couple and lost a load... streaky Lee. Then he blew two derbies in Jan which SHOULD have seen him go.
He fluked a few results but ultimately I can't recall a Hibs manager I've disliked more. I'm delighted he's gone but for me, the board messed up appointing him as he was never a hibs manager, then took too long to get shot.

As a manager with more than 450 games as a manager before Hibs, we would have thought the guy knew what the hell he was doing.
