Rightly a lot of criticism has been towards Johnson but I am surprised that Kensell seems to get such an easy time.

Our record on paper is pretty awful since he’s been here and whilst I understand the CEO isn’t directly responsible for our on the pitch performance I feel he needs to take some responsibility. It was his idea to get Maloney and he clearly fell for whatever Johnson used to flatter him in the interview.

Hope he has no say whatsoever in picking the next manager.

Coz he gets p####d with the fans on away trips and in the Albion Bar mate - he's every bit as culpable as the last 2/3 managers - he appointed them

Made a similar comment last night. It’s like he’s immune to criticism to some because he drinks and takes selfies with fans.

I think we would need to know what his role profile is. Has he got final say on managers and players. Our owner was the Head of Recruitment previously and I image had a say in who we hired on the football side. McDermott would be similar in the new set up. Kensell may be there primarily for the commercial side for all we know and he has done a very good job with that

Our turnover is up massively so he has been successful with that side of the business. On the pitch it’s not working. He brought Brian in for that reason. I think that new set up needs some time.

Aye agree. Actually don't like the guy at all, but he's doing really well getting money into the club. Can't deny that.

Let him stick to that and McDermott can focus on the footballing side.

I don’t think he is, he gets plenty. I still think the positives outweigh the negatives. Revenue up dramatically since he took over something LD had let slide. He recognised that the football structure was wrong and pushed for a DoF.

Was our turnover not so low before though is it a fair comparison?

I am happy to give credit for that but since sacking Ross we have been awful on the pitch and he has to take responsibly for that.

I am surprised fans are eager to give him the benefit of the doubt because he brings in money (I am fairly confident anyone remotely capable could do the same with a club like Hibs) whilst watching a pish team.

Well no one did it before him. I think people quickly forget how run down things were.

Absolutely. We couldn’t even get a shirt sponsor under Dempster latterly.

He shouldn’t be judged on what was before him only on his performance.

He's been at a few clubs, notably Arsenal and Norwich where he became CEO.

It's hard to quantify his level of success, though Norwich credited him with making the club more 'self sustainable' which is probably what made him attractive to Hibs and the late Ron Gordon who were are very much looking at how the club could increase it's income without being able to, or wanting to, borrow massive amounts of money.

Norwich City seem to have an incredibly loyal fanbase and even in the Championship their 27,000 stadium seems to sell out most weeks, probably helped by the lack of any gigantic near neighbours or another pro club in the city, not to mention lower expectations of the club given the massive competition they are up against. If you want to be self sustainable that almost certainly helps.

In that regard Hibs are different gravy. This is a club who in relation to the likes of Norwich have far higher expectations of being a success in the leagues we operate in. Not just that, but like any Scottish club we rely far more on gate receipts than any club in England's top two divisions. We have to be a success on the park to keep the fans coming and maximise our income, our poor start to the season and the effect it's going to have if it continues was reflected by a crowd that no matter what the announcer said looked sub 12,000 on Saturday.

If Ben Kensell is to stay here he has to recognise that difference between where he is and where he came from. Failing to see the correlation between success on the park and maximising the by far biggest source of the club's income was Petrie's biggest failing ... Kensell's biggest task just now isn't to attract 10 new sponsors putting 10K each into the club, it's to find a way right now to enable the manager, whoever that might be, to address the glaring deficiencies in defence and the midfield ... and to ask the current one why he thought a player was worth paying £700,000 for but not a starting place in the team.

Spot on.
