Signed for Irish league champions Larne on a season long loan.
he’s far too good for that level but as it’s only down the road for me I might get a season ticket there. Anything to see those slide rule passes again

Seen him playing for Arbroath in the group stage games earlier this season and it was a sad watch. A shadow of who he was (mind you the whole team were awful that day).
Hope this kickstarts his career again.

* I’m aware I’ve spelt his surname wrong. Don’t know how to edit the thread title
Sadly he’s maybe not good enough for that level these days.

I suspect he will struggle to get a game in that league having watched him recently

Fitness was never his strong point, through illness and dropping down to part time meant his fitness took a bit of a hit and when that happens in your late 20s/early 30s then the game is up, you just can't get that back, you can get yourself in shape and get fit but you'll never get that same level of fitness you had before the changes/problems.
Shame but hopefully he can find a level where he van play and enjoy his natural game

Dear me… clearly many more clued up on him now than me. What a sad end to a career that held such potential

It's about his level now.

Most of my happiest times supporting the club in recent years involved Scott and that great team he was in. I just hope the laddie is happy and enjoying what's left of his football, some player on his day, the very defininition of 'class' and 'unplayable'. That 4-0 Rangers game (and many more that season to be fair), he was on another level.

football’s a cruel game. There’s McGinn and Allan. One in his late 20s, the other in his early 30s. Both components of that majestic midfield of ours in 2018.
one is now an absolute powerhouse for an English premiership side and Scotland. The other has signed for Larne. It makes me sad

An absolute quality player in the majority of his time with us
Sad to see how things have turned out for him through no fault of his own

He essentially did his running for him. Allan was never going any higher than Hibs but SJM was never not heading to the next step. He seems a great guy so hope he is fit and well and still enjoys playing.
