Cant attend tomorrow, got dates and holidays all muddled up so instead of attending tomorrow Im looking forward to the Livi game on Saturday :)
However very excited about tomorrows game but also a real fear deep inside that we might get banjoed. I guess this is how many of us must be feeling? The score prediction competition isnt exactly a bed of positive scores.
Loved the Luzern game but have to admit to both thoroughly enjoying it and watching it like the last few minutes of a Doctor Who episode as a kid, ie hiding behind the couch. Tomorrow I imagine will be 10 times worse.
How are you feeling?

Exactly the same. I think we could get hammered but then also could make a game of it and at least compete. A lot depends on what team Villa put out

I don’t normally believe in free hits or anything like that. But there is absolutely no expectation on us for this one so I don’t see any point in worrying about it.
Hope we can make the most of the occasion, not let them kill the crowd too quickly. And, at the end of day, it’s a game of football and you just never know what could happen.

Think they’ll have all their big players out, might change the goalie, but the rest of them will play. Reckon they’ll be looking to have the tie done.

As strong as possible I would imagine. First campaign back in Europe for some time and looking at what West Ham did last season they will be taking it very seriously, i'd be planning on winning the first tie and putting a changed team out for the second match if they get the right result.

The gulf between the teams is vast, but these two games should have no bearing on the season as a whole unless we do win them somehow.
We go in with hope more than anything else, if we get anything other than two defeats out of the games I’ll be happy, I hope the players give it everything they have and grab the opportunity to step up and show what they can do. If we don’t manage it then it goes in a long list of games we’ve lost, it’s hardly going to be a defining moment in our history if we lose to a huge club the spend more money on one player than our entire club costs.

Really excited. All the pressure is on Aston Villa. If we get scudded heavily then most would say it was expected. If we get something it would be exceptional. Hopefully we really get to celebrate a goal.

All we can hope for is they underestimate Boyle and Youans pace, press high up the pitch and get caught out with a ball over the top.
I hope we compete and even a narrow defeat would not be a disaster. For the fans going down south, I just want them to have some hope.
We are 11-1 to win tomorrow and 21-1 to qualify. However St Johnstone are 28-1 to win at park head on Saturday so I guess it’s comparable?

As you say, if they kill the atmosphere with early goal (s) that would be disappointing. I think the main thing about tmrow for most fans is the special occasion and if the crowd is deflated early doors it would certainly be a downer. Flip side if somehow we took the lead or made a real game of it, the place will be rocking.

Got clearance from el Jefe to head to the pub and leave her with 2 kids for the match. So now buzzing, watched both Andorra and Luzern home games at my local with a 100% win record. You'll hear me in Easter Road if that continues although I highly doubt it.
Just can't be out fought and found wanting for effort and commitment. Getting beaten by a simply better team is a different matter.

I'm neither a happy clapper nor a doom merchant but this one will have me peering through my fingers. Pros and cons of getting into Europe I guess, every now and again you run the risk of getting rolled over by a really superior team which I think Villa are.

Strangely I'm not that nervous, there is pretty much zero pressure on us nobody gives us a hope and this Hibs team is so inconsistent you just never know with is- if we lose heavily everyone will just say told you so - I just hope we give them a right game

I'm excited, I'd love to see us make the group stage and reap the financial rewards that it would bring, but there is not a chance that the squad we have would be able to handle playing Thursday-Sunday until Xmas - making the Group would make Europe next season a long shot IMO.
Better that we put up a good fight, a win in either leg whilst still losing the overall tie would be a great achievement, a draw in either leg would be a good show by the players.
This run will have generated a fair amount of revenue for the club, let's hope we invest wisely in January and seal 3rd place for group stage football until Xmas in 2024

We'll almost certainly get 'banjoed'. Our defence is nowhere near strong enough to cope with what Villa can conjure up. But if you accept that beforehand it will temper the disappointment and you can treat anything less than a hammering as a positive.

Just looking forward to it. Generally a bit more nervous round games with the Jambos. It's a free hit at a former Champions Cup winning team. Des Bremner on the pitch too.

Hibs at home in Europe against Aston Villa in front of a full house with the bonus of John McGinn playing. I'm beside myself with excitement. That's three rounds of European experience for our players, the money that goes with it and a huge game under the lights. If we get through it's a miracle and a shedload of cash. If we're knocked out it's entirely expected and we can focus on the league and domestic cups.
Absolutely gagging for it.

Genuinely if we can keep the defecit over two legs to single figures I think it’s forgivable. We are second best in every single position and the resources they have to analyse us are different gravy.

We have nothing to lose, everything to gain, there should be no nerves.
It's not a cup final, a derby, or even god forbid again a cup final derby (worst feeling ever pre match).
If we happen to be winning the over the 2 legs with 10 minutes left at villa then that will certainly get close. Could you imagine

it feels like the pressure of a friendly but the excitement of a derby, without any of the rivalry - there's no reason at all for the team to go out with anything other than a positive mindset, relish the occasion and test themselves against top opponents. I think we're in for a great game.

Pretty well sums it up for me too.
It simply can't be overstated what we are up against here. Lets face it Aston Villa don't operate in a different league, they operate in a different universe. The chances are we could be on the wrong end of a thumping.
But on the other hand this is fitba and in any game, no matter the huge difference in standard of player, there's a thousand to one chance of a shock result ... a 1- 0 win would IMO be right up there with the biggest results in this club's history, a draw would still be a significant achievement. In fact any result that allows us to keep our dignity where we can clap the players off knowing they have given their all wouldn't be the end of the world.
In the end it would just be nice if we could keep ourselves in the game long enough to maintain what will be an electric atmosphere. I hope that's not too much to ask

Very excited for this game.
Just more interesting than playing certain Scottish teams X amount per season. Gets so boring playing Rangers and Celtic so often - the sooner they restructure the leagues the better.
Tonight is about damage limitation. Liverpool showed last year what can happen to Rangers very quickly (7-0) if you loose a few quick goals.
Hopefully a good atmosphere and evening to remember with some positives.

Absolutely, but would prefer a score draw if it's to be a draw just so we get to celebrate a goal
Also, I don't think we'll have the "how have we not win that " feeling we had after the Dnipro home game 😂

We will be trying like absolute bears today, but be under no doubt this will be the best team we have seen at Easter Road in a very, very long time. I’m excited to see how we get on as we tend to perform well against better sides, but this is one of the biggest competitive tests we have ever had (therefore expectations are low).
Either way, I’m going to very much enjoy the occasion and buzzing Hibs have given us supporters the opportunity to revel in such a match. Mon the Hibs.

Excited but nervous at the same time. Fully expecting a pumping and feel for guys like Lewis and Paul if they play the likes of what Watkins and Diaby/Bailey….
Atmosphere should be unbelievable though. Think the fans can have a big part in the game today. Hopefully AEK-esque stuff.

The problem is that both their pace is not fast in the Premiership. For me, I hope we can compete and keep the tie alive for next week but worry about a Malmo-type result.
This is our biggest game in Europe since AEK and that night was wonderful. There is a real excitement around Hibs I just hope we turn up.
