He was awarded a medal retrospectively since he played in an earlier game in the tournament but just not the final.

Based on the Transfermarkt values their squad is worth about 50 times ours. We've got a small chance, best odds on a win on Wednesday is 10/1 (was 6/1 a day or 2 ago).

Just dredging up this thread again as I was looking through some old programmes and I think I've found another World Cup winner who has played at ER. Admittedly it was in a Friendly.. but still an interesting one .

Karl Mai - Left Midfielder who I think played in the 1960 Friendly at ER for Bayern Munich. He played for West Germany in their 1954 Winning World Cup Team. In the programme from the match he is listed as one of their key players, but I can't find confirmation of the line-ups. (yes I'm bored)

I beleive Hibs won the Friendly 3-0 and I think the scorers were Baker, Preston and McLeod
