I think we have to be defensively solid and get into half time without conceding a goal, I think this line up would be our best bet of achieving that.

Boyle was medically advised not to start yesterday and therefore I think he will be more valuable for us coming on in the 2nd half when we are likely to have more counter attacks. Youan the same if available to make the squad.

Possibility of extra time too so I'd rather have Boyle for the last 30 mins and possible extra time if it came to that than just the first 60 or so mins.

Miller & Obita can offer height and defensive attributes as well as a threat going forward.

3 big lads at the back to deal with that big striker.

Thought ALF & Vente worked well together against them last week.

Doubt this line up would receive applause but getting through that first half is important and I think this would be solid.

We can try and shuffle the defence about the best we can, but all permutations give me the fear.

I reckon Johnson will stick with Miller, Hanlon, Fish and Stevenson. What he may change is to have another defensive midfielder, for example Jeggo or JDH to protect the back four and drop either Youan or Boyle. Surely he won't give a debut to Harbottle or play Bushiri who has hardly played. Would defy logic to throw either of them in against the Swiss.

My feeling is that any defence Johnson goes with, will concede at least 3 goals on Thursday.

From how we have performed so far this season I don't have any confidence we will go through. I think our only hope is to hang on grimly as long as possible in the hope that Luzern lose a bit of discipline and they may get a player sent off or we manage to nick a goal.

Sadly I can only see a 3-0 or 4-1 defeat on Thursday.

I really hope I am wrong.

I was just at football training here and ok, obviously Hibs players are way fitter than me (I bloody hope so) but it was the humidity more than pure heat that was the bugger in the evening, although I was training between 19h30 and 21h00 so we should have no issues on that front

I think arguably this is our best team, albeit I'd rather see it as a more flat midfield 3 with Campbell and Newell either side of Levitt.

Unfortunately Campbell seems to have become a bit of an enigma. Really needs to get himself in the team and find some consistency.

I’m the same as you on this, they were tidy and passed the ball around nicely but I didn’t think they created an awful lot. That’s not a praise of our defensive abilities because we know how weak we are at the back, I just don’t think they’re particularly good going forward. Same as last week, get in their faces and frustrate them.

We caught them cold in the first minute of the second half but they pulled it back.Even after we got a second they hit the bar, but towards the end of the game they seemed content with 1 one goal defeat but we caught them out when their No 6 make a shocking cross field pass.They are technically much better than us, but will they be able to cut out their errors.I worry about our full backs being exposed and our lack of mobility in midfield. I wouldn't play Stevenson, but we have no one else.

I’m less keen on the idea of ALF as a lone striker / in the middle of a front 3. He looked lost in Andorra playing that way and has been excellent in a pair every time he’s appeared since then. If we play that way then our fullbacks are going to need support from the players in front of them, leaving the striker potentially being isolated.

It’s hard to know what to do with this squad tbh.

Definitely a concern. Gamesmanship will be full on tonight imo. Cool heads but we need to be up for the physical battle also. Last week showed they are not shy of mixing it. Just a shame their big centre forward wasn't sent off when he should have been.

I'm not sure he will, he's hardly done it at all since he arrived, in fact he's gone on the attack most of the time even in Glasgow, and we've taken a few beatings there.I'm not even sure we have the players to set up defensively.

I actually thought we (almost) weathered a tricky spell at the start of the second half last week and generally defended much better during that game than we have during our other games.

Can't say I have 100% faith in our defending but I think we've got it in us to do much better than we've been doing.

Johnson's comments give me the fear a bit tbh because this doesn't strike me as a game where we should leave ourselves open, especially early on. Getting through half an hour without conceding and leaving them to hopefully get a bit frustrated is vital.

Most of us have found it impossible to predict every 1st team Johnson has picked so far this season. They have been a bit random at times. Suppose we will find out soon but if this is the first team it would be very disappointing if Kensall leaked it.
