Lee Johnson’s tactical changes made a significant impact tonight.
I am far from convinced, but credit where it’s due.
Changing to 3 at the back won us the game.
Hoping it continues.

He does have a record of producing big big wins when he’s really up against it doesn’t he. The 6-0 against aberdeen and the win against hearts (defeat in either could have seen him emptied).
fantastic performance tonight and he deserves a lot of the credit

When did we change to 3 at the back?

Aberdeen were defeating themselves at that stage, so I wouldn't put too much emphasis on that particular result. It certainly came at the right time for him though.

I can't work him out. Sometimes he gets it spectacularly correct then looks like a dunce the next game. It's a rollercoaster all right.

On the Beeb it was clear we lined up with 3 at the back from both second half kick offs.

I never saw 3 at the back at any stage. We played 442 with two wingers until late on when Jeggo came on and we went 451 or one of teh new variants at that. LJ left it a bit long bringing Jeggo and JDH on for me as they had way too much space at the edge of our box but he deserves all teh credit tonight

Didn't look like 3 at the back at the game, that formation suited the players last night(except youan)

We never played three at the back. Straightforward 442 all the way until Jeggo came in for Boyle.

Louie tucked in, when defending, leaving us with two wing backs. Ellie wasn’t effective enough tracking back.

6-0 is an impressive result regardless of the state of the opposition. It was an excellent performance from a team who had also been accused of defeating themselves at the time. That game will go down as one of our most famous league results in recent decades, strange that anyone would downplay it.

Get what you’re saying and obviously want to start on the front foot, but as long as we get it right and get the result I couldn’t care what point in the game we crack the code tbh.

We were fine in 1st half too, youan was the one to blame for his laziness not tracking back - let's not be blaming that on LJ FFS

My post is referring to him in general not just last night. The amount of times we finish how I think we should have started is unreal be that team selection or formation especially at home
I thought in the first half we were a bit too passive, letting them advance the ball to halfway without much pressure, and seemed to be focussing on containing them, although we had a few forays forward too.
second half it felt a bit more aggressive, pressed them a bit higher and tighter, and barring a few minutes when they had is pinned around our box (when they had a couple of shots from outside the box), I felt like we put them under more pressure and it showed in where the play was taking place and broadly where our players were on the pitch

For me that was bringing Obita on more than a change of attitude. When Boyle is back to full fitness we could actually have a really good pressing front 4 with Obita replacing Youan

You know we are doing really really well, or really really badly when we are talking about replacing Youan with anyone in the current squad. Not to say that Ellie doesn't have to work on his defensive duties.

The difference this year is we have quite a few players who will create and score. Last year he was about it in terms of us scoring and we were forced to accept his frailties. I'm not expecting him to be a brilliant defender but if I was the manager he would be sat on the bench after that defensive display last night. He was lazy and never switched on when we didn't have the ball. Simply not acceptable for me and I hope our manager is the same. I have actually thought Johnson has been very firm in taking players out of the game who are performing at an unacceptable level. He did it against St Mirren and again last night. That to me will drive more consistent performance and will make players realise they need to play well to stay in.

Not many teams will have much possession Vs us in the league so will be interesting to see how Johnson plans going forward.
I was really impressed with the shape and workrate of every player.
Wasn't Youans best night though and again we concede a **** goal.

Exactly. Some folk just can't give Hibs credit. Very odd.

If you look at the start of the 2nd half from the kick off, it did look like 3 at the back, but we scored so quickly that when they kicked off we'd set up as a back 4.

Thanks - I was sure I saw us lining up with three at the back - but didn't see how quickly we reverted to a four...

It was the the so called tv pundit that said Hibs had gone 3 at the back with Lewis filling
in the left of the three. So where did Miller go? Nowhere, he continued at right back and it was 4 across the back all the way thru. Pundits talking crap for a change.

Part of me wonder whether LJ is saying “I need the right tools for the job” and recruitment is finally delivering. That said a manager never slow to admit to his X-hundred games in charge as a manager, surely in that time appreciates the desperate need to get a tune out of the players at his disposal regardless of who signed them.

I'm not saying we started the 2nd half with a back 3, i'm saying it just looked like it with Stevenson pushing in a bit at the kick off. We scored straight away and then lined up more of a 4 at the back.

It looked like 3 because Miller had pushed on given that we start with a ball back to Hanlon and he launched it down the right side.
