same for me. I've been logging in https://issitedownrightnow.com/status/hibs.net which works if you need to cut and paste

I cleared my history and it was fine after that.

Issue was only on my laptop, other devices weren’t affected.

That seems to have worked.

That seems to have worked.

It happens every couple of days for me. It's a proper pain.

Deleting cookies accumulated from hibs.net seems to help. Ideally just delete those from hibs.net so you don't lose context from other sites you use a lot:

https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95647?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop#zippy=%2Cdelete-cookies-from-a-site

But failing that, nuking all site data is your best bet.

Blocking 3rd party cookies may help going forward:

What a pain this has been in the last few days. Not been able to vent my fury at Johnson.

Followed the process other guys have and now working but intermittent.

Anyway admin can solve this long term.

Why is it only affecting some devices and not all users?

Tried 2 browsers on my phone and both are affected. Deep dive into browser history and it seems I've been getting the 520 error twice a day back march but didn't notice them.

Cheers for the tips folk, I got a new phone and this issue started.
I have since cleared cookies which I do regular but I noticed my setting where set to only clear cookies from the last 24hours instead of all cookies.

I've had this issue on my Surface Pro , but the site works fine on my iphone and ipad.

At first I thought it was some work based security thing blocking access.

It's a bit of a hit and miss thing, it depends on how much browsing you've done on the site with that browser, how that browser is set up wrt to 3rd party cookies and probably which ads you've been served up while you were browsing.

This is an explainer on the error - https://www.greengeeks.com/tutorials/fix-error-520/

And this (I think) is probably the most relevant bit:

Large Request Headers and Excessive Cookie Usage

When a web browser requests a server, it sends along information called “headers,” which include things like cookies (which remember your preferences on a website). If there are too many headers or cookies, it can overload the server and cause Error 520.

Lots of cookies are benign things like hibs.net remembering your login but advertisers place cookies to track where you've been to try and serve you targeted ads. So hibs.net is not necessarily in control of all the cookies you're getting, hence "3rd party".
