Wether it's Hibs, Hearts or Aberdeen the season will be full of inconsistencies only a huge injection of money would potentially change the situation, as a supporter I just go from game to game, you have to hope for a good and lucky cup run or finishing 3rd,that's all there is.

Thats not enough for a club that spent the last 15 years building for the future.

Unfortunately we're always in a period of transition Hearts and Aberdeen are no different, there's no shortcut to success

Football is different now though, nothing we can do other than being owned by a nation state or billionaire would really change that.

That’s all there is and we still won’t get anywhere near it with this imposter at the club

I don't think we can brush it off as inconsistency which, as you say, can blight all teams apart from the very best. We are entitled to expect better against teams which operate on a significantly smaller budget, yet over and over again we come up short against them. We rarely convey any sense at all that we are one of Scotland's bigger clubs.

Aberdeen are about the worst possible example of a club that are inconsistent in recent times, since McInnes was appointed in 2013 they have finished 3rd, 2nd, 2nd, 2nd, 2nd, 4th, 4th, 4th, 10th and 3rd. In the same period we have been 11th (relegated), 2nd (Championship), 3rd (Championship), 1st (Championship), 4th, 5th, 7th, 3rd, 8th and 5th. They have finished outside the top 4 once in 10 seasons, we have finished in it twice.
I'd kill for a bit of that Aberdeen inconsistency.

:agree:
Yet for some Hibs fans, anything other than 3rd is an underachievement.

Even when we finished 3rd we bombed the manager after a poor run and decided the football wasn’t Hibs class.

I agree, i like you wanted McInnes when we sacked Ross, but the argument against him was he was Ross Mk2 and the football was boring.
At least the football is better now. :boo hoo:

The whole point of RG buying us was to improve us.
Fed up hearing that we’ve bang average for the last 40 years or whatever. If we wanted more of that we could have stuck with Petrie and Co.
We’re meant to be trying to improve. As a fan base we’ve bought into the dream in huge numbers but the folks at the club appear to have forgotten what RGs mission was. As have some fans.
If you’re content with us being a mid table side then I totally understand why you don’t mind LJ.
For a lot of us, maybe even most of us, we want the club to deliver on what RG set out to do. That means getting a new manager in asap.

They would give for a scottish cup, soul, spirit and passion. Aberdeen play in a library in front of dull passionless silent fans. The granite city...dull with a dull boring football.

I'll take a guess that the 2nds all came when no Rangers in the Premier league, so neither were we for some of that time!!!

He makes clear in his post that we were in the Championship for three of those seasons.
Point being, though, that even if we'd been in the top flight at that time there's no way we'd have finished second for four seasons on the bounce. We're just too weak willed as a club.
*Just checked and in 2016/17 Aberdeen finished above Rangers, who were third.

They've won the Scottish Cup seven times, four of them comfortably within living memory for many of their fans, including three in a row in the 80s. The only reason our 2016 win means so much to us is because it was (embarrassingly) 114 years since we'd last won it. Not a chance they'd swap their recent league record for a solitary Scottish Cup in that time.

16/17 - Rangers and Hearts were back in the league and finished 3rd and 5th respectively.
17/18 - Rangers, Hibs and Hearts were all in the league and finished 3rd, 4th and 6th respectively.
It's a moot point really. For 10 years, barring one season when they changed manager they have consistently been top 4. That came off the back of a manager transforming them from a team that finished 9th into one that finished 3rd and won a cup the following season. No excuses about needing multiple windows, no excuses about legacy etc etc. Just a manager and a club that got things done. Annoyingly it looks like after that blip under Glass and then Goodwin they have got themselves sorted out again.

Apologies the inconsistencies I'm referring to are about the present, I can't see Aberdeen, Hearts or Hibs going through the season without having more than a few poor performances and losses, there's not a massive difference in the quality from 3rd place to the bottom.
Unless you have 3 or 4 players at least of a much better quality the advantages are slim and negated by science and technology making it easier for the so called lesser teams not to lose using the counter attack as an effect method of getting a result, of course that is their perogative and not a complaint.
