I'm a wee bit concerned that our midweek exploits will affect our energy levels on Sunday.

Yeah, I know they're professional athletes and some of you used to play 5 games at the weekend with no ill effects, yadda yadda, but there is definitely a pattern of teams dropping points after a European game.

Even going back to the 70s when we had a very fine team, winning at the weekend after Europe was the exception.

I do remember coming back from Tripolis to Edinburgh to see us gub Motherwell but that was with the pocket dynamo, SJM, in the team.

LJ did the opportunity to rest players on Thursday so hopefully we'll be at it by 3pm tomorrow.

Will certainly be a concern but good we were able to take key players off at 50 mins or so. Annoying that Vente apparently is unavailable due to some permit issue.

Johnson and his team should have plenty of experience preparing teams for a midweek/weekend schedule as that's the norm in league one and the championship, coupled with the opportunity to rest some of our key players and the lack of international travel I'm still confident we'll have enough to see off the saints on Sunday.

It'll be a different scenario when there's significant travel involved, post Luzern we've Raith in the cup which we should still be too strong for but it's up the managers and players to manage the recovery aspect both mentally and physically.

I remember that Motherwell game fondly, Hibs - to a man - were excellent that day for 75 minutes then ran out of steam a little.

I don’t know about a hangover, but LJ suggesting that Boyle and Newell need looking after. Wonder if he’ll prioritise Europe over League this weekend, although he e need to get off to a good start tomorrow

Playing regular European football every season is where we want to be/should be as a club so it’s something we need to get used to.

We were in rest mode after 60 mins on Thursday and let them have the ball for that period, don’t think there will be much of an issue on Sunday but next week might be a different story.

Unsurprisingly, I have no recollection of them!

Shouldn’t be an issue this week, we didn’t really need to push ourselves on Thursday at all.

Next week might be different after a proper 90 minute game against Luzern.

It could be of keeper's 3rd game in 5 days 😂

We went down a few gears after we made it 4-0 so I'm not too concerned. It's something we're going to have to get to grips with quickly if we want to be successful though. It's where we want to be so the lads need to deal with the midweek/weekend schedule.

My only real concern if is we don't start Boyle who plays on the right?? We really need cover in that area and soon as we can't rely in Boyler Thurs/Sun for next few weeks

Youan on the right, Obita on the left?

Yeah I guess that's a possibility mate as Youan was better kn right when Boyle went off on Thurs- we need another wide player in the door tho which am sure is coming with us letting Mackay leave

We do have better sports science now. If you ask players they would rather be playing

It was good that we were able to make changes against Inter when we did , also took the foot of the gas towards the end imo too . Hopefully won't be too much a problem for Sunday though our next European game will probably be a totally different matter entirely I think.

Maybe later in the campaign but Thursday night, whilst a competetive match, surely the players are still in pre season mode and should be itching to get going on Sunday. Should we ever be fortunate enough to make the group stages then it may be an issue.
