They must have chartered a plane because they wouldn't be able to get back that evening on a scheduled flight, even with a 5pm k.o.

I wonder why they haven't offered up seats to supporters.

That probably is the case. Do Uefa subsidise travel in any way for difficult places to get to or is it all on the visiting club? A trip to Edinburgh for the Andorran side will surely bankrupt them. :greengrin

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andorra–La_Seu_d%27Urgell_Airport

I'd have thought a direct charter from Edinburgh would be the desired option.

Its a 3 hour flight to Madrid then another 1.40 to Andorra. Add in wait times at both airports plus customs, and it'll take about 7 hours to get there, probably longer.

They wouldn't be able to get back to Edinburgh until the Friday, then half of them will have to jump on a bus to Blackpool.

Then there's the cost of all the equipment etc. It's £90 return for golf clubs on Easyjet, so I can't even guess how much all the strips, food, liquids, medical provisions would cost.

A direct charter could well be cheaper, it would certainly be much quicker and they might even be able to get there and back in 1 day.

It looks like that airport is only suitable for private jets so they'll probably have to go Barcelona and bus it from there.

I can't imagine there will be many of the team who travel to Andorra in the squad to face Blackpool.

You're right.

The flights from Madrid use a 60 seat AT7 so assuming Hibs can get a hold of one of those, they can go direct.

The last time they flew to somewhere that wasn’t used much commercially - just had a look and think it was Lleida. So still a reasonable distance but closer than Barcelona.

The kick off time seems to be the standard time for all the Andorran teams in Europe. Don’t think they really care if people here are still at work or not and not much Hibs will have been able to do about it.

No wonder teams can struggle in league matches which follow a European tie.

Hibs won't get away from the stadium on Thursday until 7.30 at the earliest then they'll have at least 3 hours on a bus to Girona airport, followed by a 2.5 hour flight and all the time spent getting through security and customs at both ends. Then they have to get home.

They'll be lucky to be in their scratchers before 3.00am.

Why not tomorrow but ok on saturday?

I'm not sure he will play Saturday. He said to me at the game on Friday that he is fine but isn't likely to play until the home leg at the earliest.

If our matches against Santa Coloma or Europa FC are any barometer of how this side will play against better opposition I'd rather leave him on the sidelines personally.

Can't say I have seen them play but fair enough, against groningen last week they had a fair few kicks that should have resulted in yellows so doesn't really matter imo who it's against. He needs game time soon

I watched their last game, the standard was really awful. Andorrans went 0-1 up, parked the bus then started fouling and falling over whenever possible. Standard was on par with the Cowdenbeaths and Brechins etc. should be double figures aggregate result for us.

Bit optimistic HC. I think we will scrape a win over there, your goals will have to come at ER to hit double figures.

The pitch looks terrible and they will have 11 behind the ball. It'll be a rank game to watch.

Anything other than a convincing win there tomorrow should be classed as a poor result given the opposition.

Boyle registered along with youngsters Megwa, McAllister and Molotnikov. No space for McIntyre this round.

I suspect Boyle has only been registered as an insurance policy to be subbed on in the second leg if we are somehow chasing a goal. Shouldn’t be any reason for it come to that.

It's a competitive fixture so I'm with the view that says all you need to do is get through - our run to winnng the Scottish Cup didn't see any cricket scores, but a 2-0 v Raith was enough, pens v Dundee Utd, replays vs Hearts & ICT. It's just about getting through.

I hope our team has learned from the last Andorran opposition - if you concede a goal, they will try to frustrate the life out of you, win fouls, cheap yellows, time wasting, Newell got a red (however harsh) for an unnecessary snap into a closing down, in an innocuous area of the pitch.

These are all things we can control - don't give them (or the officials) a chance, and just play the football.

Ersed about 3 vodkas on the flight to settle the nerves and like you, I've no issue with flying. What got me was the pilot saying on the intercom, we'll just taxi to the runway then start the 2nd engine. WTF!! :worried:

It’s a Danish company, maybe they were the only people happy to take us to the Faroes as well if that had been who we’d been playing?

A lot of companies we’d have used for charters in the past are having their aircraft used by airlines for regular work during the summer at the moment because most airlines are short of staff

That is the team I would like to see, Youan does perform better on the left but he should have enough quality Vs this opposition to play on the right. Not sure if Johnson would throw Rudi in though so we will see who he goes for.

We have had a slow start in 3 out of 4 pre-season games so we need to get off to a good start tomorrow.

Jordan Obita, no. He’s got a myofascial tear, which is like the skin on a chicken, if you imagine that on a thigh. It’s not a long injury but you’ve got to let it heal. He was the furthest behind of all of our players because he had such a long off-season. Could he play? I don’t think he knows and we don’t know yet. So I would probably say 70-30 against on that one."

Not sure if VAR will be used in later rounds. Last season there was no VAR in the qualifying rounds or group stages. Hibs/Djungarden/Lurzen could potentially use VAR in the next round as all the leagues the teams represent have it. Not sure if UEFA will allow it though.

I personally think if a clubs league has it then it should be used. If we go out to a decision that VAR could have overturned then we wont be happy. That of course does work the other way as well.
