Probably a decent idea to play a European team, different kind of challenge, before we play any European teams competitively. Dutch so they’ll be technically decent.

Same. They are about as glamourous a club as Livingston. Just less silverware.

Yep a complete and utter non entity, no doubt with delusions of grandeur as they’ve recently been a part of the half and half scarf/ Chinese tourist league

A friendly against long time friends of Hibernian, FC Groningen, has been confirmed for Friday 21st July (7.15pm KO).

This match is free for 2023/24 season ticket holders.

Strangely on Groningen Instagram it says the club is exploring opportunities for away fans to attend. Surely we sell tickets? Would imagine a decent amount would come over as not in Europe this season and fairly well supported team.

They probably mean through their club, club charter type thing. Any fans making their own way will have no problem getting a ticket.

Looking forward to it.

Tickets in East and West only so no ST card activation possible. Also due to Ticketmaster muck up with some West Stand STs there are folk still waiting for replacement cards to be sent out again anyway.

I've already had a rant on the Bounce about this so don't want to repeat myself too much here, BUT, I will say this :
I received an email at 5pm today urging me to claim my free (£420 season ticket) seat for this game as my reward for being a loyal fan.

Logged onto e ticketing as soon as I could only to find someone else had snapped up my seat already - some people received the email 2 hours earlier than I did.

Do I feel like a valued and privileged 'customer'?

Draw your own conclusions.

Only 2 stands are being opened. It’s free entry, it’s not a guarantee of your own seat.
Plenty people in the FF will not even be able to try for their usual seat.

Over 12000 seats between both stands, probably wont attract anywhere near that so cuts down on stewarding etc etc
