I still believe melkersen could come good for us yet . I think a loan move to the Scottish championship would be beneficial in his development. Well done to him on his first under - 21 call up for Norway.

:aok: DH
He is obviously doing something right in his time on loan,to be included in the squad.
I see they have two games against Scotland in Spain this next few days.
Thursday then Sunday.
Alicante and Murcia. Not far apart,i dont think.
So any Hibby's nearhand on holiday, get along and boo him !! :greengrin

Hope he shines !:greengrin

Who knows,DH
He might impress at pre season training and get back in the frame for selection to squad.

Hope melkersen scores a couple of goals in each of the two games but lose 3-2 . Hibby's do like a 3-2 scoreline 🇳🇬👍

Aye , Scotland and Spain . Hopefully a couple of goals against Spain and a good display against Scotland but NO goals

The games are being played in Spain (Alicante and Murcia) but the games are a double header of friendlies between Scotland and Norway, we are not actually playing against Spain.

There is something there with him. Motherwell in the cup, St Mirren this season at ER I thought he was good. He hasn't really played in a team that's in form yet.

I wouldn't be sending him to the championship. He looks like he can play across the front 3, have him as one of the forward options on the bench and give him games against the weaker sides if we start the season well.

See if we actually gave him a run of games and he got a goal he might actually come good, we give guys a chance and if they don't do it right away they are back out, play him centrally. His movement is great. Same with Mckirdy in and out, out of position etc no good to anyone.

Give him a chance through the middle with Boyle and Youan either side of him.

Agree, hopefully he gets his chance pre-season and takes it.

I actually think he look decent early in the season problem is he just isn’t a lone striker I thought he looked good out on the right v St.Johnstone season opener I was quite suprised he dropped out the side to be honest but obviously never done enough to get back in

I think that with Boyle, Youan, Melkerson and yes even McKirdy we will have front players with plenty of pace and movement.

Definitely need to add a player or two who can act as a focal point.

Depends on if Lee Johnson thinks he can get something out of Melkerson and McKirdy.

Easy done, I dunno ytf we are playing 2 friendlies against the same team, I presumed we'd be playing Spain as well.

If only we'd tried that with Bojang.

McKirdy is experienced enough that everyone should realise by now that he's unlikely to be good enough to earn a run of games for Hibs. Melkersen is young enough that he still deserves a chance because it will help his development.

Has barely set foot on park since he went to Rotterdam, there to make up the numbers unless we believe he has been watched - impressing in training.

Honestly thought when he was playing on the right side it didn't suit him at all . He needs to play in the centre imo . His movement for a young striker is very good . I do wonder is part of the problem maybe a lack of creativity in midfield tbh as well .

It is easy to forget, as I did, that the laddie is still only 20, and is nowhere near the finished article.

He has imho been the victim of unrealistic expectations, with his signing being trumpeted in a way that made us, or me at least, believe that we were getting a goal scorer capable of going straight into the first team and banging in the goals.

The reality was something different, and I think a year on loan in a lower division would help him develop to his full potential more than sitting on the bench and not getting many minutes.

As I say he’s only 20 and deserves to be allowed to develop without the weight of expectations, and resultant criticism on his back

True.

In his introductory interview he was asked, "What should Hibs fans expect from you?"

His answer, "Goals".

Impressed in the classic 2-1 Scottish Cup win over Motherwell at Fir Park with a brace but then nothing scoring 3:29 mostly coming off the bench

Will need to see a lot of improvement but not totally writing him off just yet

The fans were brilliant that day and incidentally another good performer that day Sylvester Jasper remember him ? has signed a permanent deal with Portuguese club Portimonense

They can’t just stay in the team. If they stay in the team and aren’t performing then we can wave goodbye to any sort of decent season.

The likes of McKirdy have had plenty time to show what they can do. The idea of him getting to start numerous consecutive games is terrifying. You’ll then also have everyone else in the squad demanding numerous consecutive starts to show what they can do.

Someone like Dundee United or Queens Park would be a good loan for him this coming season, a team you’d expect to get a fair few shots on goal and would want to play on the front foot.

Whether he goes on loan or stays here, you’d have to think this season is last chance saloon for him at Hibs though, both Oli Shaw, Jason Cummings and the like were scoring goals for the team at that age and he needs to show he can bag a few soon.

That wouldn't help him settle in Scotland or get used to our league so we'd be back to square one next season when he returned.

Which is why a loan to the Scottish championship would be good for him so he can get regular game time while getting use to the Scottish game.

Maybe Hibs will want to move him on though we have given Tavares (22) , Henderson (24) and Mckirdy (26) more of a chance than melkersen who's only 20 . Surely we could give him another year or so without acting so hastily.

Melkersen has played 1,484 minutes for Hibs while Jair has played 237 so not sure how we have given Jair more of a chance?

He got the last half hour. Would imagine he’ll start on Saturday when they play again.

Henderson no doubt has been giving as much a chance and mckirdy not as much IMO.

In his first season he seemed to be getting into really good areas but no league goal and a fewsitters maybe? I do remember at home to Dundee United he should of scored of the top of my head.

Even looked decent in pre season the season just gone with 3/4 goals?

His concussion issues can't of been good either and I would honestly be surprised if Johnson see him as his main striker.
