I was just looking to hopefully get an honest take on this. Since Covid I seem to have developed some anxiety and I can’t go anywhere without people talking about cbd oil as a treatment. A friend of mines just took it for the first time this week and said she noticed no difference. Some websites say you need to build it up in your system and some say it affects you after 20 minutes.

Really just wondered if anyone on here has used it to try and treat anxiety and or insomnia and if so, would they be willing to open up and give an honest review!? Just very mindful of the people who make most noise about it always seem to be selling it as well.

Like anything it's not going to work for everyone, I tried it for a bout of insomnia I had a few years back and it didn't work for me, I have pals that take it for depression and anxiety and it's worked wonders for them, also know folk that take it for arthritis and it works for them too

Should also add in I tried it on two separate occasions over the span of about a month with two completely different strengths and didn't notice a thing

I'm still a huge proponent of it though, if it works for you then it seems to really work

CBD oil can offer effective relief from anxiety. Problem is that it's generally quite expensive and because it's not regulated, there's no guarantee of authenticity. You could be spending a lot of money on something that isn't a genuine CBD product.

Magnesium is a more reliable alternative in my opinion. We generally don't get enough Magnesium in the typical western diet and Magnesium plays an important role in regulating activity between the Glutamatergic and GABAergic systems in the brain, making it a vital neuro-protecter. Not just against short term issues like Anxiety and Insomnia, but long term complications such as Alzheimer's and Dementia. The best option would be Magnesium Glycinate as it has the highest level of bio-availability, allowing the majority of the Magnesium to cross the blood brain barrier.

Another useful supplement for anxiety is L-Theanine. L-Theanine acts as an NMDA receptor antagonist. It works by blocking the binding of Glutamate to the NMDA receptors. This prevents the neurons from becoming overly charged while boosting the brains delta wave state. It has the effect of reducing anxiety but without causing sedation or reduction in situational awareness. Some people take L-Theanine when they consume Caffeine to offset the jitters. Although it's best just to avoid Caffeine altogether if you're predisposed to anxiety and panic attacks.

Vitamin D3 is also a vital component when it comes to dealing with Anxiety. It's believed that the more time we spend indoors and out of direct sunlight, the more at risk we are of developing Anxiety and Depression. The good thing about D3 supplements is that you can get the benefits of Vitamin D3 without being exposed to the harmful UV rays of the sun.

Over the counter CBD is pretty much useless , you’d need to be paying around £80 for stuff that would work better , ideally you want full spectrum but that’s only really available with a legal medical cannabis prescription, I take it for my knee and it works well , takes around 3-4 weeks to build up the levels required for it to work well [emoji1360]

Full spectrum CBD doesn't require any legal medical cannabis prescription. As long as the THC content doesn't exceed a maximum concentration of 0.2% then it's legal to purchase in the UK. Whether all CBD products genuinely meet this requirement or not is another matter.

CBD can certainly help to tame anxiety. But it shouldn't be recommended as the first line of treatment. Potential imbalances in vitamins, minerals and nutrients should always be addressed first. If the anxiety is accompanied with gut health issues as it quite often is, then looking into potential food intolerance's is worth while as well.

I use it for my sporadic bouts of insomnia (I only use when experiencing insomnia for over two days, tend to try tough it out until that point) and it does work for me. It takes about an hour to feel the relaxing effects of it and I use four drops under the tongue. Also helps with my gammy knee as and when I need it

I use it in a vape - i sort of can't tell whether it does anything or not, but as far as i can make out, my anxiety has gone down since i started using it. I also just enjoy it, much better than nicotine vapes, they leave me feeling totally jangled. the pricey stuff is probably worth it, i.e. full spectrum - you can get it over the counter in various vape shops.

all this said, i have no idea about the science behind it and whether the evidence supports it.
