What would be a normal price for getting residential windows cleaned in Edinburgh?

I've got 13 windows, all on ground floor. I know it can cost more for a one off clean, if anyone can offer any insight that would be appreciated, want to make sure I'm not getting ripped off:greengrin

For roughly the same number of windows, I was paying about £8.50. That was once a month

Cheers pal. I've been quoted 30 quid for a single clean, which sounds excessive.

We pay roughly £1 a window.

I'm £10 a month for similar, upstairs downstairs. Manchester like, but can't see why you'd have to pay much more than that.

£4.50 per month for 4 bottom windows, a front door + door window and 5 upstairs windows, was £3 for past 12 years and the ******* increased the price, thinking of doing them myself now 🤬

6 and a patio door = £9 ..... we just give him £10.

Well worth it! :-)

I do remember him saying they'd been hard work the 1st time as they'd built up a bit of traffic film etc. ...... not as moany as my better half was when she was pointing out the needed cleaning mind!

A small regular expense that can be easily avoided is my thought as long as you physically able to wash windows.

I use a Karcher widow vac and can clean the windows in about the same time as the pros.

Bucket of soapy water and the vac and they are done as near perfect as damn it in minutes.

Just to add, it also depends on the size of said windows. If it's sash windows, it costs a lot more as they're usually much bigger.

I used to also charge a bit more if the windows were higher up, as it meant climbing out the window and standing on the ledge, which meant having to change my pants a lot more... but at least you have the decency to live on the ground floor :greengrin

I’m second floor with 11 sash and case windows. They were also absolutely filthy.

I was £40 the other week, guy had to clean them from in my house.

12 windows on 2 floors for less than £2 if you buy a chamois leather 😉

Dunno if it's a whoosh moment, but do velux's not flip 180° so they can be cleaned from the inside?

Hence why he won't be getting on the roof.

Interesting thread .
I remember reading back in late 70s / early 80s that there was only one registered windowcleaner in Edinburgh . Wonder what number is now .
They do an amazing job and I used to get vertigo watching them on outside windowsills .
Back in 1980s and 1990s (?) there were 2 fanatical Hibbies (maybe brothers / cousins or just pals but very much traditional Hibs fans who loved to talk about origins and history of our club ) who seemed to clean half the windows in North Edinburgh .
In Spain I pay 30 euros a month to have 6 ground floor windows of office cleaned every week plus some extra work on alluminium doors every few months .

Top floor tenement flat in Glasgow, 8 windows, was quote £65.

So I do them myself. They’re fine as long as the blinds are closed, otherwise they’re streaky as hell.

I’ve tried everything. Watched a zillion YouTube vids on how to do them properly but it remains a mystery.

Guess that’s why they can charge £65!

I’ll get the ladders out and do them for £30, I’m just down the road and they’ll no be streaky. Deal?

They were going to do them from the street with a big long pole and ionised water.

I said they could use tap water and do them from inside the flat as the windows are tilt and swing but they weren’t having it!

I can’t do the cool sweeping motion with the squeegee.

Windows look cool when I’ve done them but as soon as the light catches them, they look a mess!

Think of it as you’re shaving your sideburns and your jawline at the same time, but over and over again. It’s the same motion with your wrist.

I use this. 2 minutes per window with a microfiber cloth and some warm water with just 2 drips of washing up liquid.

What counts as a window? This is the front window in my living room. Is it 1, 2 or 4 windows?

(Before anyone suggests it, no, it doesn't have bars to stop me escaping! 😃)
