Lump in my throat watching that!
In times of multi million players disrespecting clubs all over the world- it's an honour to support a club that has players like these at it. Enjoy your night lads.

Best not giving him the satisfaction of a reaction to be honest. If that’s what he thinks of it, then that’s his prerogative. Up to him.

Not sure who I’d have given it to, struggling to think of a player who was consistent throughout the season, much like the team. No doubt when Newell was at his best he was excellent, but still too many games, Saturday being one, where he doesn’t reach those standards.

Well deserved Joe Newell! By far the best midfielder at the club and a leader & role model off it. Needs better players around him next season but if you still don’t rate him i don’t know what to tell you at this point.

One of the best turnarounds i can remember for a hibs player. After the 6-1 at ibrox the general consensus among hibs fans was that he should never wear the shirt again. Gives me a glimmer of hope for guys like mckirdy. Just a glimmer.

Nisbet was my pick. Think his return to the team, and goals, got us a respectable finish to the season. Would have been bottom six without his contribution. Though Newell finished the season well though and I’ve never been a big fan.

The thing I've increasingly noted about Joe Newell is just how passionate he is about Hibs.

He lives near me and I see him walking his dog fairly often when I'm out running; it's gone from a nod to a 'morning' to exchanging a few words now. He loves Edinburgh and has put roots down here now. There was a video of him doing the rounds after the last ER derby and you could see how much it meant to him. He gave the generic footballer before a derby interview in the week before but his actions post match suggested he really meant it. He'd obviously had a drink last night but you could still see he was genuinely emotional at winning an accolade from both his team mates and the fans. He got a great reception and rightly so.

I remember after a 6-1 defeat at Ibrox saying I never wanted to see him in a Hibs strip ever again. Knee jerk obviously but over the last few years I've been increasingly appreciative of him as a player. When you look at the work that needs done on the squad this summer then Joe Newell is an obvious person to be part of a spine to be built around.

Wanted to give a wee mention to everyone who pulled the night together last night - thought it was genuinely absolutely brilliant.

Iain Stirling was on top form as host
Barrie Wilkins pulled all the different parts together really well
The videos for the old guard were immaculate
And Abandoman was outstanding ("The Rangers 2016 / Fifty Shades of David Gray" was a highlight)

I'll definitely be off to his show in the Fringe after that.

And fwiw I was very taken with the strong speeches from Malcolm McPherson, and the emotional / from-the-heart speeches from Kit & Iain Gordon.

All in all, superb work and hat tip to all who put it together behind the scenes.

I think that's harsh, but at the same time I can sort of see where you are coming from.

I don't think many people would claim Newell's had a great season, it's not as if he's been an 8 or 9 out of 10 most weeks, but he's been dependable enough.
