Many on here, myself included, have been critical of the atmosphere recently at ER. Despite not being a full house, what a difference last night. It really shows if the team play with a bit of passion/drive etc the fans will get right behind vocally. Help we pumped Celtic but really enjoyed last night. Well done hibees.

If the team turns up, so do the fans.

Sure the players would say they play better under a great atmosphere. Chicken and egg. We should focus on what we as the support can control - turning up and getting behind the team.

Completely agree but last night performance was like a Lennon type performance from the team and for me it is no coincidence that at that period, ER was bouncing.

If the team could play with that intensity, passion and swagger as they did last night, the fans would have ER rocking and when the teams levels do drop off a bit, the fans would be there to try and pick them up.

Long may it continue.

There was no atmosphere during the first half, which was played like a pre-season friendly. 2nd half and we started to actually compete on the pitch. putting in some tackles and low and behold, the fans start enjoying themselves.

The atmosphere got louder once the Celtic hoard were quietened by the play from the team and non existent after we equalised

Agree with this.

Hate it when folk say that the crowd can only create an atmosphere and get behind the team when they see something they like on the park. It's like 'what can you do for us?' as opposed to 'what can we do for you?' - we're all in it together supposedly.

When ER is rocking it's better than anywhere outside Glasgow.

I think it has to be accepted though that an atmosphere is better when it's organic and responsive to what is happening on the pitch. Fans feed of each other as much as what is going on on the pitch.

Look at the Celtic support last night. That's as quiet as I have heard them at ER in a long time. They had little to play for and where you usually have a full stand belting out their standards, last night it was confined to the Green brigade section for long spells. There was a defiant 'champions again' after our 4th that seemed to get a decent airing from the whole stand but even that was pretty half hearted.

I take my hat off to the Ultras groups and others who try to keep an atmosphere going even when the team are getting beat or it's grim on the park but it's just not the same as when fans and players are responding to each other in unison.

Still a lot of empty seats in the FF lower, looks poor on TV.

Yeah it's not going to be a wall of noise for 90 minutes and of course all those factors matter, but even really getting behind the team at the start would be a big boost for them.

Luckily only another season to put up with it

All it takes is a few players trying to get in the faces of the opposition. It doesn't require quality just a bit of balls and when it happens it generally gets the crowd going and other players follow suit. No idea why we seem to be so reluctant to get in better teams faces.

Wish the club would be bold and incentivise fans to move to the FFL if it’s getting made into a section with cheaper tickets.

Have been to games in Germany and the tickets on the standing terraces behind the goals are cheaper than the rest of the stadium. A packed FFL for big games would be an amazing spectacle and the potential tifo displays could be class.

Be bold Hibs!

The atmosphere improved with the team getting their dander up.

It would help if we sang more actual Hibs songs too. I have no idea what's being sung at times, must be getting auld.

Think I heard **** the tories at one point, which is fine in principal but I don't see the point of it last night.

I think what gets lost in this discussion is the difference between noise and atmosphere.

I think the Block 7 folk do a great job in generating noise which sometimes translates into atmosphere.

Singing itself isn’t atmosphere and is quickly lost as background noise if nothing else is happening.

Folk getting off their seat to “cheer” a hard tackle or the crowd urging the players on or berating the opposition or the referee etc is where the atmosphere builds, and from that nobody needs to be encouraged to sing, it just happens.

:agree:

You can’t really ‘falsify’ an atmosphere very well imo. The team simply needs to be doing their bit to help the atmosphere build. Effort, getting wired in and good bits of play.

This is where Maeda did us a favour last night. In his seemingly hell-bent determination to get sent off, every time Clancy bottled carding him again, the atmosphere ratcheted up a bit more. The sense of injustice, allied to the fact that we were playing well and pressing Celtic quite far up, really helped build the atmosphere.

Definitely.

I remember David Gray absolutely flying into a tackle on Scott Brown against Celtic a few years back and it was celebrated like a goal.

Noise is great but raw atmosphere comes from emotion and you can't 'manufacture' that.

Similar happened last night when Stevenson tracked back and made a slide tackle.

There was a ton of empty seats in every stand apart from the south last night.
