Anyone else noticing that their local chippy is cutting back on the portion sizes of chips ?

id rather pay what it’s worth for a decent portion rather than feel you’re being ripped off.

both local chippes of late pretty skimpy on the fish support portion size.

almost feels like you need to by an extra bag of chips which is mental.

I'd say the opposite. Most give far too many chips and more that your images show.

I don't have one often but when I do I usually think I get too many. Time to change chippys for you I think!

The price of potatoes has rocketed, our prices from our merchant has increased twice in the last two weeks. Folk will only pay so much for chips before they feel they are being ripped off so some chippys may go for giving smaller portions rather than increase their prices. Those portions do look smallish but it is hard to tell with the fish covering it. We find that a lot of folk who eat in or just outside and then hand their boxes back for us to recycle very rarely eat all of their chips!

Probably not fair to name without right of reply.

It has in years gone by won awards so was quite a bit shock.

I usually ask for quite a bit of sauce now I need to ask for more chips. Gonna have to look at prices to see if there’s a big difference between getting a single fish and a separate bag of chips it is pissing me off this much.

I'll guess St Andrews, might be totally wrong. I'm happy with the smaller amount of chips, I don't eat nearly as much as I used to so there's no waste :greengrin

Went to a chippy in Plockton near Skye last year - was fantastic, but the fish was tiny, the size of a hand rather than a foot.

Worst size portion of chips I've ever seen.

Noticed at the local chippy that the standard of chips has gone so poor. I reckon due to cost been buying worse standard of spuds.

We used to have a baked tattie once a week. I've stopped even trying to get decent Tatties as they are all eyes after a day or two. The quality of fresh produce since Brexit is appalling
