I think it may have been when Collins was manager and he’d mentioned he was the only player of note from Gala (disputed by Katie)…
Anyway this game I’m thinking it was notable if memory serves from Gala scoring direct from a corner.
The scorer worked locally and for part of the company I worked for his name was Kevin but forget the surname… so name the year, player and final score (think it may have been 1-0)
Galafoxes May have commented on this at the time iirc…
PS I don’t know as Google has not been my friend in this occasion and **** AI.

Can't help you there, but I do remember the 2001 game. Hibs pretty much at full-strength, Gala defended gallantly, 0-0 at HT. Then young Garry O'Connor came on and ran riot. Scored all 4 in a 4-0 win.

Would you have also been at St Marks park against Craigroyston where Garry was literally bulldozing through the defence (don’t think he scored but Bobby was coaching him to effectively keep believing and going for it) a young unknown Stephen Whittaker scored a peach of a free kick and bombed up and down the flank all game pretty untouchable.

Wow that long ago? Went down with my family as a 12 year old. We came down to the borders a few times to watch hibs put out sides against the clubs down here

Sykes….
Baring in mind the following encounter happened in the Borders and Broad accents were used during the making of this experience…
Notoriously bad at directions and before Google maps and I had a satnav I overshot the warehouse and ended up at a BP/Shell garage.
Me: Excuse me can you tell me the way to the Netherdale industrial Estate?
Garage Attendant: Are you looking for sex?
Me [confounded): No! [gathering my senses and thoughts] no I’m looking for the Netherdale industrial estate.
Garage Attendant [equally bemused probably… provides direction]
Me. Thanks
I leave l, walk through the rain and sit in my car in disbelief. I look down before starting up the car and see my security badge then it hits me - Sykes in a borders accent is…

😂 didn’t realise the accent down here was so different. I thought it might be Sykes, worked there myself at the gala office for 6 years. I think the man you might be referring to is Kevin Matheson, good player who played for the fairydean for a while. Last time I checked he still works for SYKES, not sure about sex
Sykes in a Borders accent is still Sykes, worked in Gala for them for 26 years and never once heard anyone pronounce it as sex.
Would definitely be Kevin Matheson, he is still at Sykes and had a wand of a left foot as a player.

So does that mean there's a garage attendant somewhere in Galashiels still looking for sex?

There was also a closed doors friendly at Easter Road v Gala in January 2001. One of my mates played for Gala and it was a full strength Hibs team. Hibs won 10-0 , he said Mixu and Latapy were out of this world . It was a decent Gala team but they couldn't get near them.
