Noticed last night that Dylan was on the Arbroath bench. Despite 5 substitutions he did not get on! What had gone wrong - looked a great prospect?

No idea but it begs the question why a young prospect from lower leagues would choose Hibs. Apart from Nisbet have any worked out in the last 10 years or so?

Think he’s not long back from a bad injury

Nisbet was better than the players he was competing with, Tait hasn’t been.

If there’s any young players from the lower leagues we are after that’s the same challenge they will face, if they’re not up to that challenge then I don’t care if they choose not to join us.

Surely him not getting a game for Arbroath is more of the reason and blame not placed on Hibs?

We can sign them but it’s up to them to prove it in training or on loan spells.

Fwiw I’m sure Johnson said his ability wasn’t in doubt but he needed to learn the defensive side more, hence the loan to Arbroath

He was a stand out in a Raith team that was probably better that this Arbroath team and even the Raith team now, he's had a couple of injuries which haven't help his development but he's at an age where he should be pushing to start in this league, look at Campbell.

Campbell is 23 Tait is 21.
Pressure on Tait from the second half of next season to start making the grade.
Came back from a bad injury and has generally been coming on for the last 30 minutes of games for Arbroath.

I agree, thought he was brilliant at Raith when I saw him

He should be a standout and starting for Arbroath but for whatever reason isn’t. A couple of times I’ve saw him I’ve thought he’s got a slight lazy/tired looking side to him when defending and allows runners to go a bit too easily.

Maybe part of the reason Johnson sent him out and Campbell isn’t playing him as much

He didn't play in the Development games against Newcastle and Middlesbrough and I don't think he played at QoS but he did play in a couple of games before that and played well without looking fully fit. Delferriere and Jacob McIntyre have been the centre mids lately and both are looking the part.

Huge preseason for Dylan to have any hope of playing a part here. Completely up to him how much he wants it as at present there will be a few in front of him.

There is a few players in this situation come next season so will be interesting with the likes of Dylan, Delferriere etc to see who's still around.

As a few have said he did look decent at Raith and was a young Scottish Talent, what about Regan Hendry also he was one a few teams was looking at and now he's on loan at Tranmere.

I wouldn't think it would put off young lower league scottish players from coming to Hibs though in the future.

Campbell's just turned 23 but my point stands, he knuckled down, worked hard and is now a regular for us.

Most players knuckle down and work hard but very few make it at our level.
Campbell wasn't a regular until he was 22 so we need to be patient with younger players.
They need to find the physicality that Josh has found this season and that tends to come with age as much as hard work.

I think I remember LJ mention something about Tait's off ball game and how it needs to improve. It was something both Allan and Mallan struggled with, the tackling and covering back when we didn't have the ball, fortunately Allan always had that one wee class pass and Mallan his shot/free kick. We've not got the luxury of a McGinn or McGeouch to play in the middle alongside Tait, so he needs to add more to his game.

Move him on. Approaching 2 years at the club and think he has featured in 1 league cup game for us in that whole time.

Small chance we regret letting him go but time to get ruthless. We’ve got another 8 players in the squad with little to no contribution to their name.

Hague
Delfierre
Mckirdy
Henderson
Melkerson
Mackay
Tavares
Magennis

With Kenneh & Doidge also coming back and probably not going to contribute.

Hauge, Delferrier and Tait are development team players.
You also appear to be chucking away players that cost close to £1.5 million quid to say nothing of the pay offs required to move them on.
At the end of last season folk wanted rid of Bushiri and Campbell and both have proved themselves this season.
Hopefully a few from your list of 11 become regulars next season.

Yeah, supporters often don't watch for what players do off the ball.
A big summer for lots of Hibs players including Tait.
He will need to prove to Johnson and the coaches that he has or is significantly progressing the weaknesses they identified in his game last summer.

We don’t really have a development team though, and did we not pay fees for all 3? It was a good idea terribly implemented.

My point was we have a large group of players who have yet to show anything for Hibs. How many will realistically come good against the odds? Maybe Melkerson & maybe Kenneh but I’d probably bet on none of them making it. Rocky & Campbell were playing first team football, and while still raw, were at least showing flashes in the starting 11.

I’m not saying just release all of the list with no thought to paying up contracts. However how many do we keep, like Tait, after a year or two of providing nothing for the first team despite what they cost, incase they might still come good. Time for Hibs to get ruthless and move on as many of the list as possible.

Judging by Arbroath fans comments online he seems to have had an absolute shocker of a season when he's been on the park. Not worked what so ever for him

Did you not listen to the Longbangers podcast? He’s been kidnapped and weekly postcards sent from football grounds around Scotland pleading for his release… :).

Billy Baws attitude is what got him his loan move out the club and why he was training at different times at East Mains.

He will go straight back out on loan next season unless another club want to take him permanently With the new Director of Football in place who clearly has an eye for scouting good players we Ned to off load anyone he and L J don’t see playing for us
McKay at Inverness would be the one that night get a chance pre season to impress given his Cup Semi Display But he would need to become more consistent with us to be getting a game
