Hibs are linking up very well, they're absolutely full of confidence and they're showing it. An intricate bit of build play results in a Josh Campbell curler, but again Trevor Carson is there.

They come forward minutes later - it has to be a third, but Chris Cadden fluffs his lines! Again, it comes from a St Mirren gaffe. Kevin Nisbet closes down Charles Dunne and then crosses low for Cadden, but he doesn't make a clean connection from just a few yards out.

We've been right in their faces in that first half, not giving them an inch and forcing them to make errors. Exactly the right way to play against a side like this.

Happy with that 45 minutes from the players, created quite a few chances and didn't really give many away.

The defenders are defending well, the midfield seem up for the battle and the much better of the two and the forwards seem hungry.

We had a couple good chances and we took them with a composed finish from Youan after great work to get intercept the ball and a brilliant headed goal from the fish.
Same again for the second half please.

I think St Mirren will take some positives from their second half and go on to beat Hearts next weekend, esp at home, they have fight in them and it was a smart tactical move to switch shape and take it to us at 2-0 down. by next week we could be two points ahead of hearts and 3 points off 3rd place.

Agree we deserved it. I though the first half was as good a 45 minutes as we’ve put together this season. Second half was a struggle but we showed a bit of fight to get through it. Quality is in question but will to win isn’t.

For me it was down to the fact that you can’t continue playing like we did in the first half. Was always going to be a drop off (and a reaction from them). We needed changes to freshen things up but there was nothing on the bench to bring on. Fighting, and suffering a bit, is our best hope of picking up points between now and the end of the season IMO.

I’m a fan of Campbell but we seemed to lose control of midfield after JDH went off. St Mirren took advantage in the second half but full marks to the team for hanging on for a great 3points.

Such an important win, and the time ran down a bit quicker than I had initially feared after conceding and struggling to find that first half flow.

Biggest surprise for me was that given how crucial it was that we held on to enhance our Euro ambitions, the stands were emptying at quite a swift pace with 5 minutes to go. Just don’t understand that.

It was all about the result today.
A win in our easiest remaining game sees us now 3 points ahead of St Mirren and with a much superior goal difference.
St Mirren now need at least a win and a draw in their last 4 games to finish ahead of Hibs.
It's not happening and Celtic are winning the Cup so today has all but assured Hibs of European football next season and no League Cup group games.
Next up a tough game with in form Aberdeen at Pittodrie.

Re the ref. Both stoppages for head knocks were late challenges. We lost a midfielder on the back of a poor late challenge which the ref stopped for but took no action. Both headers were as dangerous as the recent sending offs in that a player was endangered. JDH was probably concussed.Ref also missed some obvious hand balls by the StM players. Almost as if having his mate shown up, some retribution was in order.

The ref was horrendous but I'm much more concerned about how badly we fell apart in the second half - we were dreadful against St. Johnstone
& I'd hoped it was just one of those games (a rare away game for me) but after controlling a first half against a St. Mirren team that didn't turn up
at all they way we fell apart in the second half was scary, St. Mirren improved but were hardly on fire, we just didn't cope. Watching professional players
repeatedly fail to pass to each other, continually giving up possession was just depressing.
Youan was exceptional in the way he gave us an out going forward and continually tracked back and won tackles, hope we can keep him.
Very worried that LJ did nothing beyond a couple of substitutes to waste time in the last few minutes.
A win is a win but we'll get slaughtered by better teams playing like that.

Such an important win, and the time ran down a bit quicker than I had initially feared after conceding and struggling to find that first half flow.

Biggest surprise for me was that given how crucial it was that we held on to enhance our Euro ambitions, the stands were emptying at quite a swift pace with 5 minutes to go. Just don’t understand that.

Today I had to get back to Glasgow for a night out. Leaving as the board goes up and not getting caught in the crowd exiting the stadium can save a good 30mins travel time.

We need first pick right and left backs, a playmaker, someone who can threaten at free kicks, much more pace, an outfield captain and a bench you can actually use.

Really enjoyed the first half. The problem for me in the second was the fact we set out to spoil, hold on and time waste instead of keeping going the way we were . Ffs at one point we sent Barry round to tell the ballboys to timewaste. It's st mirren we were playing ffs, not real madrid

Lack of changes was down to him looking at his bench and have if nothing there IMO. Only explanation for me.

I think he’s getting just about as much out of the current squad as it’s possible to get right now.

Watching the game, it was obvious we were crying out to make a change during the second half- until you looked at the bench and noticed how little he had to work with. Maybe he’d have had better options if he’d trusted some of our youngsters but I don’t know if that was the situation to be throwing untried players into?

Whichever way we look at it it was a decent day’s work.

Absolutely. Us, Hertz, Aberdeen and St Mirren are all pretty similar in that we struggle to dominate entire games yet are still capable of really good spells within matches.
Hopefully we can find more consistency with the right additions in the summer but until then that was a good win in an important match.
Frustrating but ultimately successful in a game we should have been out of sight in ny half time.
Incidentally it's nice to see JDH playing like he did when he first arrived again. Nisbet is becoming almost unplayable for defenders and Will Fish is going to have a really good career.

Youan was playing on his usual left. Just happened to be in the right/central position to intercept the pass at that time.

Re the ref. Both stoppages for head knocks were late challenges. We lost a midfielder on the back of a poor late challenge which the ref stopped for but took no action. Both headers were as dangerous as the recent sending offs in that a player was endangered. JDH was probably concussed.Ref also missed some obvious hand balls by the StM players. Almost as if having his mate shown up, some retribution was in order.

Absolutely nothing in the JDH incident. Frustrating at the time as the ball fell to Nisbet and we had a real opportunity on the break.

Fills me with absolute dread other than excitement. I’m not allowing a derby win over an out of sorts hearts and a battling victory v st mirren to convince me that the team and especially midfield is anywhere near good enough.

We need to upgrade on many these guys. Or we will be in for a constant up and down patchy campaigns
