Bobby Madden, according to the BBC, says the referee's in the lower league of English football pander to the club's. in his experience. There is a panel made up of neutral's. the club's invloved and refeeree's, but he thinks that is unfair. Wakey wakey, Bobby. You're not a referee in Scotland anymore. old habit's die hard eh.

Thankfully he’s not a referee anywhere anymore. He announced his retirement yesterday.

Would get him back in here. At least had some idea about football and player manner much better than some

Unfortunately his replacements are even worse and their replacements will somehow be even worse than they are.

Yeah, I thought he was one of the best.
The new breed are all pretty wimpy.

Good guy Bobby Madden.

Stopped the ball on the touchline in the 91st minute at Hampden for David Gray to take a quick throw.

He has a point, in the English football league 40% of the referees assessment marks for a game are made up of assessments of the referees performance by the two clubs. Accordingly if decisions go against teams they are likely to mark referees down so referees are more likely to pander to clubs which can't be right.
Maybe it works in practice but written down it looks bad and is highly reliant on the integrity of club officials.
Far too many managers and CEO's already slate referees to deflect criticism so it seems a flawed system to me.

Thanks for jogging my memory, i do recall now he was the 4th official that glorious day. I take it all back Mr Madden, thank you.

Just saw some of his interview where he says he went along to watch St Mirren with his brother when he was a teenager after years of visiting Ibrox with his grandfather.

On that basis, I'm surprised the first ever SPL match he was allowed to ref was a St Mirren game. In which he gave St Mirren a penalty.

4 of the first 7 seven red cards he handed out were to teams playing against St Mirren. Including a 1-1 draw against Celtic where he gave Wanyama a red card and awarded St Mirren a late penalty.

In the era of diversity and all of that stuff maybe the refs could diversify a bit themselves and reach out to the fringe regions in Scotland like Edinburgh, Fife and the North East?

Pretty much sums it up.

They then shut up when you ask how many referee high profile games like a two cheeks match or a cup final.

I see Sean Murdoch is getting plaudits for the way he refereed the Youth Cup Final the other day. Hopefully he can work his way up and be a G1 referee in the top league sometime. Probably makes a difference in that he’s played the game at a decent level.

Thought he had a decent game overall in the recent women's derby.
