Why would anybody aspire to be a referee? Without them the game is dead........

It's quite horrendous, but the tread title is a take on fans.

He should be banned for life and never allowed into a football ground again even as a spectator the guys just a thug. I believe he was already banned from playing.

That boy should get the jail, and a decent dose of it too. How bloody long did it take the assembled crowd to properly get him off the ref though ffs

He handed himself in to the cops , was up in court on Monday and refused bail.The ref and his family were leaving on the Saturday to go on holiday too Singapore and Bali. Poor buggers in hospital with broken jaw in three places

Disgrace.

Absolutely shocking how long it took for a large crowd of people to intervene and pull that thug off him.

I play Saturday football in North Yorkshire and the amount of times I shout 'just play the game' when people kick off at the ref for a genuine mistake is bizarre.

I was also part of a U17s match a good few years ago where one of the players got sent off for spitting on my teammate. His dad then punched the ref, turns out he was banned from league football grounds for his behaviour at Leeds matches.

I imagine its very difficult to enforce but these people need to be disassociated with football all together, relegated to watching it on TV.

He's got a good case to sue the guy for compensation.
