Our Tribute To Absent Friends was really well received last year 💚
This provides supporters the opportunity to show respect to Hibs fans that have passed away this season.
If you wish to contribute, please send a short message (30 words), and/or a photo to
[email protected]
—
We are contacted by supporters regularly asking for tributes following the passing of family, friends and fellow hibs fans, and we have worked together to dedicate this match to everyone.
We feel this is the most appropriate way to ensure everyone is remembered.

Would be good if SOL was played as the accompanying music and the song sung by the spectators at the game

This is a good idea but I felt that last year, the photos and words were shown fwr too quickly.
I know time is tight but this is a once a year thing and surely the club could give due time for everyone to take in the moment when their loved ones are shown.

Yes agree as you just started to read it then it would change , so even 3 or 4 seconds extra give you a wee chance to read it.

Whilst it did go pretty quickly for individuals, the whole thing seemed to last forever and for me - was an absolute downer before the last game of the season.
Hopefully this year it can be focused on people who have actually passed in the year, rather than anyone who has ever passed ever.

It's all about opinions but I thought it was beautiful and brought a tear to my eye as I had lost my mum a couple of weeks earlier.

Agree thought it was brilliant and very poignant. We should do it every year at last home game if the season.

I agree it is a great thing to do. Last year my cousin’s name was up there as he passed during the season. I hadn’t seen him in a long time but we went to watch Hibs together when we were young, and it was a nice way to remember him.

I understand people felt that way and that it was right to have people who had passed recently, or during the season included on it. However, there were tributes for people who had passed some time before and whilst there is no timeline on grief, for me, that wasn't the point of it and it made it feel overly long.

Maybe just because it was the first time we had done it?

Each to their own, there can’t be many who thought it was an absolute downer though. The feedback suggests it brought comfort to many. It’s also easy to avoid watching it and occupy yourself with something else if it’s not for you.

I think last year included a lot of people who had passed away during covid times so it maybe did go on a bit longer, dont think it was a downer though.
I included my Grandad in it last year, he passed away in March 2021 but that was the first time we had been able to acknowledge it with something like that as there obviously wasn’t a chance at the end of the 20/21 season and I know it meant a lot to my Granny to see his photo up on the big screens.

Was pleasantly surprised to see a dear friend on the big screen brought up and raised a Dumbarton fan where he was born but moved through to Edinburgh to work and fell in love with the Hibs and was a ST holder for well over 30 years
A nicer guy you could not hope to meet
The Proclaimers track was spot on too
A fitting tribute

Thanks. Appreciate that.Sadly it's something the vast majority of us have to go through.

I think its a great move and much better than the minutes applause during the game that is requested throughout the season - we really need to move away from that to something much more poignant which this certainly was last year, and I think will grow in coming years.
*sorry if that feels harsh to anyone who has requested applause*

It hasn't replaced it though unfortunately.
I agree though, wish it would.
