View Full Version : Pledge to King Charles

So, we are being invited to make ‘the Homage of the People’ to King Charles. I’d rather get a Hearts season ticket, Skacel 1-5 tattoo and a maroon Ford Mondeo than pledge any form of allegiance to that corrupt, bloated and antiquated institution.
Never has the political and media mood been so out of step with your average Jo in Scotland.

I will be flying a unicorn next Saturday in solidarity. Both are things I don't believe in. 😉🦄

If the polling is to be believed I think they are pretty out of step with a fair chunk of the population of England and Wales as well, particularly the younger generations.

It is an absolute disgrace that on 2023 we have kids in poverty, people struggling to heat their houses, homeless people sleeping on the streets but we are asked to make a pledge to a man who by quirk of birth has hundreds of millions of pounds of wealth, multiple castles, palaces and grand homes worth billions. We are also paying for this utter farce. I am glad to say that politically, morally and constitutionally I could not be further away from anyone who would do this. Bootlicking serfs is the only way to describe them I'm afraid

The purpose of mainstream media has never been to inform, but to influence the public.

Bingo.
Trying their absolute best to manufacture consent for wall-to-wall coverage and sycophancy but so far it seems not to be working for once.

I was out of the country for the Queens death and so thankful I'm also away for this weekend. I have a lot of problems with the way our country is going but nothing boils my piss more than the cap doffing, grovelling, sycophantic behaviour that the Royals bring out.
Ironically as well, those who go mad for them are the same ones talking about how terrible unelected bodies like the EU and UN are, how you freedom of speech is being destroyed by woke culture etc.

I don't think the Scottish peeps on here need do anything about declaring an oath to chuck. In Scotland the King swears an oath to the people. Not that it means anything given its all airy fairy tripe, like a story for children.

The great thing is that nobody has to do anything around this at all. Personally I'm looking forward to Saturday. 3.00 at Easter Road.

All madness, obviously.
On a related - but happier - note, The Windsors Coronation special was on channel 4 last night. However, it's not available (yet??) on the Channel 4 catch-up (what used to be called All 4, but is now just Channel 4). Anyone know why? And where I can see it?
Thanks.

tv guide showing it's back on ch4 friday at 11.05. Think that might be why it's not on catch up yet, but not sure.

I’ve taken advantage of the cheap flights to leave the country and avoid this ****show!!
Interesting coverage in Europe seems to focus as much on the anti-monarchy side!!

Im sure they - the establishment - are fully aware and are no doubt wary of your edgy, anti monarchy stance. Go for the stars you republican trailblazer!

When I heard that we'd been asked to give our pledge to our glorious King, I excitedly drove all the way down to London to fulfil this request in person.
Unfortunately, when the Met Police saw me arriving with my 'Pledge'...

That's awful. "Potential" to breach the peace. Everybody has the potential to breach the peace. They should just go around arresting everybody they see on the street.

True. You could ban everyone from the pub due to the potential to be drunk and disorderly
