Referees are both corrupt and incompetent

Lewis Stevenson is immortal

The Hibs fans on the site today slagging the team for a "pish...inept performance" didnt bother posting anything positive after last weeks Derby win.

Hearts, Rangers, Celtic, Falkirk, Aberdeen, Livingstone and the entire main stream media can all go and do one.

VAR is utter pish

I will always love and support the hi-bees

Agree with it all. Wind and poor surface ruined the game as well as red card. Some Hibs fans are nit fans at all. GGTTH.

The wind was a bit of a breeze, the playing surface was fine but the red card decision was shocking, which was reflected in the level of criticism from all quarters on the radio afterwards.

Trouble is, Hibs were very poor when compared to last week, losing just about all the 50/50s, missing passes, hoofing the ball up the park and so on. They really did not have a good day at the races and Saints were by far the better team. A caller on the radio suggested they may have had a hangover from last week's game which is ridiculous. Can you imagine that kind of attitude being tolerated by either of the Glasgow twins?

Happy with the first 50mins then? There was nowt to suggest we were winning that game today, the fact some fans are delighted and singing about Europe is the reason this clubs a soft touch and littered with losers.

At the risk of sounding like James Sanderson, were you at the game, caller?

While I agree with most of what you say, I've noticed over the years that a lot of posts slagging off people critical of a Hibs performance have been from people who weren't actually at the game. And obviously the ones who have the right to criticise are those who were.

But unreserved apologies if you were.

Chill out lol. Wr got top 6, we have to play those ahead of us, it's not ideal aye, but down to 10 men, a game that was always going to be a scrappy game and missing our best perfomer all season, I'll take a draw.

Genuinely not sure who you think we are, we're Hibs, not Barcelona. We finished 8th last year, top 6 this season is an improvement, fact.

44 points is enough to get top 6 in the last 2 seasons, a few wins and were looking at a very decent season.

Today wasn't about pumping them, it was about securing top 6 and we managed that, even if we needed help from elsewhere.

Having a to at fans for daring to support their team is such a bizarre stance to take.

Today was about winning as should ever game be when we come up against a club with a fraction of our budget. We've chucked 3rd now and probably 4th. We had nowt to lose in the closing stages and never as much as had a sniff at their goal. A club this size even with 10 men shouldn't be playing like that. It was abysmal, and has been for pretty much the full season, I'll take stick that's fine but it's loser mentality and the clubs surrounded by it.

As far as I’m concerned it was mission accomplished.

We made the top six and now we go from here.

Ref was the worst I have seen at this level and the ordering off definitely impacted things.

But raising the weather as a factor?

I mean, this is Scottish weather we are talking about…….don’t all clubs experience similar weather and manage to cope?

I have to say, whilst there was grass on it, the playing surface was pretty awful. I'm assuming deliberately so which is fair enough as it's their pitch and they obviously believe it gives them an advantage of sorts.

I didn’t feel it was so much mission accomplished as disaster averted.

We started the game very badly but Lewis dug us out with a great goal and we were better towards the end of the first half.

The second half was basically a farce, with the nonsensical red card and the referee losing control of the game.

At half time I felt reasonably confident that we’d go on and win the game.

Not finishing top 6 would have been a catastrophe but we really needed the 3 points in our push to finish as high up the table as possible so I’m finding it hard to get too excited about our point.

Agree with all, except the ‘mainstream media’ label. Most overused, irrational phrase to surface in recent years.

To qualify for Europe we now have to beat Hearts, Aberdeen and St Mirren and go on a winning run the equivalent of the roll we went on towards the end of the 1989-90 season when we defeated all of the names involved in our current group except for Hearts, and only missed out on Europe due to JC's penalty miss against Dundee.

03-03-1990 - St Mirren 0-1 Hibernian
10-03-1990 - Hibernian 3-2 Aberdeen
24-03-1990 - Rangers 0-1 Hibernian
31-03-1990 - Hibernian 1-2 Hearts
17-04-1990 - Hibernian 1-0 Celtic

If we could swap one of our wins against the auld-firm with that of Hearts, and even reduce our other win to that of a draw, then I think that would be more than enough to achieve a 4th place finish and ensure European football for next season.

Lee Johnson is really going to have to get the players up for this though, and really go for it now. But we "can" do it.

We can get Europe from 5th place also if one of the old firm win the cup which looks a stick on.

:agree:

If nothing has changed from last season in terms of what Scotland is awarded Europe wise:

3rd place: Europa League playoff. One tie to get into the Europa League groups. If you lose youre straight into the Conference League group.

4th place: Conference League 3rd qualifying round. You’d need to win that and a playoff to reach the group.

5th: Conference League 2nd qualifying round. You’d need to win that, a 3rd qualifying round and a playoff to reach the group.

This is on the basis of the Scottish Cup winner being an Old Firm team. If neither of the Old firm win the cup then the 4th and 5th place places above would go to 3rd and 4th with the cup winner getting the ‘3rd place’ spot for Europa League groups with defeat in that game guaranteeing them Conference League group

Unless ICT/Falkirk win the Cup, then beating St Mirren, and by 2-3 goals will likely get us 3rd. We've got a healthy GD. If they threaten our position by beating Aberdeen or Hearts, then that'll give us a better chance of moving up to 4th.
Having said all that, I wouldn't put it past Rangers to lose to ICT

They should have slaughtered the side for the full 90 odd minutes, why the hell were they supporting the club?

Not atall, always back the team, but there was folk genuinely happy with that today and that's concerning, scraping into the top 6 and singing about Europe because other teams are losing whilst we are playing rank rotten isn't for me but each to their own, everyone's different, I just expect a lot better from a club our size and stature.

European football should be a given, if we can't finish in the top 5 there's a serious issue. Nearly half the league get European football this year. Finishing 5th isn't a massive achievement that's all I'm saying. We are just fortunate there's an extra chance. The small chance of 3rd is gone after dropping points yesterday that's what I'm more annoyed about. Will I go to Europe if we finish 5th yes? Will I have a great time? Yes, but 5th place shouldn't be something that's celebrated as such.

On your first point, apparently the ref in the Rangers game yesterday demanded that Barry Robson got the ball boys to speed up.

Can you imagine a referee telling Michael Beale to do the same if The Rangers were ahead at Ibrox? Me neither.
