Based upon an interesting statement by BILLYHIBS in the link below, I start this thread.

I would like to see Keith Wright's stats. Keith wasn't bad with his feet either, but I am pretty sure that a large majority of his goals came from his head. He scored a few goals for Dundee against Hibs as well with those little glancing headers of his.
I say Keith Wright.

Without a doubt.

Peter Cormack wasn't shabby either. He had the knack of "hanging in the air" and consequently got his napper on the ball when he had no right to.

Alan Gordon
We have the absolute winner - end of post (IMHO) - he was amazing - taken too early ☹️

I used to like the way Rob Jones would attack the ball in the opposition box. He used to have a great habit of it being his head that got to the ball first defensively too.
This is probably a more accurate answer to “who is the tallest player we’ve had” but he was none too shabby at doing what was needed once he got the heid on it.

Gordon Rae and Rob Jones were decent, but not a patch on the great Alan Gordon.

Joe Baker and Alan Gordon
Al go for Alan as i remember him playing more than i do Joe(early years)
Alan as a schoolboy had a great mentor /teacher at Tynie in Willie Bauld.
Of course, Alan had been banging them in with his Juvenile club, but learning from Bauld would have been superb.
and remember the football back in his early career was heavier than todays ball and got even heavier in the mud and rain.
Alan seemed to know where he was going to head the ball long before it came to him.:greengrin
His accuracy was striking, whether on target or down to players like Jimmy O' to knock it in.
Uncanny ability .

The best defensive display I ever saw from a Hibs player was from Alan Cousin way back in the 60’s playing away at Airdrie. They chucked high balls into the Hibs half all game and it seemed to be Alan Cousin who headed clear each time.
A friend met Alan some years later and commented on the part he played in that game. Alan said all he remembered was having a very sore head in the next few days.

Big Daz has to be up there for recent times. Wins everything.
Fontaine won absolutely everything too- but I seem to remember he was absolutely terrible at directing his headers towards goal from a set piece. Seemed to win everything but always miss the target 😂

Alan was deadly but must be the most relaxed looking player we've had, maybe apart from Ally McLeod. Never seemed to be under any strain.

In my time Neil Martin or Alan Gordon.
If I had to chose between them I ‘d probably pick Gordon who could not only score goals from his noggin, but whose ‘ flick ons’ presented opportunities for his colleagues.

Alan Gordon for me , but Neil Martin and Peter Cormack weren’t shabby either. As someone mentioned earlier Peter Cormack seemed to hang in the air until the ball came to him.

Alan Gordon for me obviously
He had the art of heading down to a tee timing and power
82 goals in 145 appearances and 42 goals in 56 appearances 1972/73 including this superb diving header a hat-trick in a European Cup quarterfinal and four goals away to Airdrieonians that included the perfect hat-trick
The only Hibernian to be selected for a World XI

I was also a big fan of Peter Cormack growing up and had his tiptoed run and hanging in the air down to perfection 😀
Pat Stanton nae slouch either in the air

His header for the 7th goal at Tynecastle is a thing of beauty that I never tire of watching

Alan Gordon - wasn’t only deadly in the air in front of goal, his knock ons, knock downs, flick ons, you name it, with his head were incredible.

Big bad John for a defender, and as others have said, Alan Gordon.
Pat stanton was no slouch either in the heading stakes.

Another for Alan Gordon, difficult for younger folk who didn't see him but he could header a ball as hard as most players could kick it.
Absolutely deadly.

Fantastic Jason Cummings cross I recall, game at ER. That was some header but overall he was poor for us, probably needed to play every week but was never going to with Holt ahead of him.
