Over the last few months the admins have become increasingly aware of complaints that the quality of debate on the MB has deteriorated. We had hoped that there would be an element of self policing to this and those more constructive and balanced posters would come to the fore.
However we have decided it is now time to be proactive and from the start of season 23/24 we wil be introducing a new tier system for posters. This will rank posters on a number of factors and they will have differing posting rights based on said rankings. Part of this will see a new 'upvote' system introduced so posts that people like can be upvoted, this will be monitored and everyone will be expected to upvote at least one post on 50% of threads they read to ensure a balanced picture.
Tier H will be exclusive to those with 20K posts or above and an upvote on at least 70% of their posts. Those who drop below 70% upvoted will be demoted a tier regardless of their post count. They will have unlimited access to read and post on all threads across the board.
Tier F has no minimum post count but requires an upvote rating of 60% or above. If the rating drops below 60% they will be relegated to the lower tier. They have unlimited access as long as their rating remains above 65%, a drop below this will see their replies moderated before being seen as explained in the next tier.
Tier C has no minimum post count. An upvote percentage of 40% or above is required to avoid a temporary suspension, a drop below 25% is a ban. Users in this tier will have all posts on highly volatile threads (eg match update, ticket info or transfer) moderated before being approved for addition to the thread. If more than 20% of posts are not approved you will be warned, then given a temporary suspension and then banned if you don't improve. The moderation will be done according to the Admin Proof Reading In Line with Following and Obeying Online Legislation principles.
We accept this will be a major change for many but we trust you will see our reasoning behind it and will support it as a means to improving the board for all.
