I have only dipped into the RG thread and seen a few wee stories about fans meeting him.

I thought it would be nice to have a few stories on a separate thread.

I never personally met him but it sounds like he was a very chipper person. I was inspired by his first AGM, immensely so. Full of hope and then of course COVID happened.

I often didn’t agree with him, but I never once subscribed to some of the stuff people would say about his intentions.

Any nice stories?

Never met him but I’m certain I saw pictures of him serving Christmas dinners to the less fortunate at Easter Road one year

I met him in the Behind the goals bar. Was quite a surreal moment, he had not long taken over and he was just standing on his own having a pint. Was like nobody had realised who he was, I spoke to him very very briefly, got a photo with him and then everyone else caught on to who he was. It’s a cliche I know but he really was just like a normal guy that clearly appreciated being at the club.

Met him at a dinner at Gaucho back in July, at an event with other season ticket holders. Was a very genial man, and seemed genuine, both in terms of his personality and his feelings for Hibs.

By a strange coincidence, my Dad was on a flight with him a few days later, and chatted to him on there and again later at baggage reclaim. My Dad had similar thoughts on him.

I really liked him as our owner, and he will be a huge loss. Such a shame that, for all we were so close on a few occasions in quick succession, we couldn’t mark his tenure with a trophy.

Very grateful for what he’s done for the club all the same - our next owner after Tom Farmer was always going to be hugely important, and Ron steered us through some huge challenges very well.

I met Ron the day he took over at Easter Road .

I was heading down to the Hibs shop to get a few gifts for relatives in the States I was leaving to visit the next day when I heard the take over announced on the radio.

I was in the shop and in walked Ron with a couple of his associates so I introduced myself and told him I was heading back across the pond to see Hibs supporting family now living in the States . He was very interested , asked the location and if they managed back over to see the team.

I got got him to sign a football that’s now in the States and wished him all the luck and success.

A real gent and it’s a tragedy he never got the chance to bring his plans to fruition.

RIP Ron.

I’m sure wheels will already be in motion but would be nice if we could do some sort of display/gesture as fans to show our support for the family. Not ideal that our next home game is so far away I suppose.

I imagine the club will arrange for an official mark of respect at one of the games and the crowd tribute will naturally come from there. Just thinking it would be nice to think they’re left in no uncertain terms that we’re with them at such a terrible time.

I met him twice in similar circumstances and found him very approachable, humble and genuinely appreciative to have been here. Very sad news, I was really taken aback when I heard yesterday. He had nothing but the best of intentions for the club.

RIP Ron 💚

First saw Ron at the AGM at Easter Road after he took over the club. Was very impressed with the way he spoke about his plans to take the club forward. Seemed a right sincere and genuine type of guy who fell in love with our club and wanted nothing but the best for it. Such a shame he is not going to see that materialise, but wouldn’t it be fitting if both his sons could carry the banner and give our club the success we all crave. Rest in peace Ron and thanks for all your hard work. :flag:

I said on the other thread that I had the pleasure of meeting him in the chairman’s part of hospitality earlier in the season v Killie.

The person I was meeting was VERY late so I was standing about like a spare part. Ron came in and walked straight over to me and chatted football for a while and had a genuine interest in what I had to say. Was really interesting to hear him talk about players he was excited about and the transfer window that had just passed.

Passion for Hibs oozed out of him and he was an absolute gentleman. So sad to see him go way too soon.

RIP, Ron.

I have met Ron and his wife a couple of times and I can tell you he was a really nice guy. Very down to earth and humble man Had Hibs in his heart Just so sad he will not be around to see the rewards for all the work and plans he had for our club to materialise.

Never met him unfortunately but if my memory serves me correctly, he opened up Easter Road to those less fortunate to get a bit of heat and some food during covid, please correct me if I'm wrong here but if I am correct, what amazing thing to do.

He was ahead of me on the golf course once along with John Collins and Strachan. I was too star struck to say anything to them though.

His banking operation in the States is genuinely aimed at helping the in need. Its similar to the old style co-ops Britain used to have and could do with going back to.

Loved the story on View From The Terrace told by the Hibs guy who told of the time a Delivery Driver delivered a takeaway to Ron’s house during Lockdown only to be met by Ron wearing a Hibs scarf, Hibs top, Hibs shorts and socks

We love Ron

Apologies if already posted

I met him briefly outside Hampden before the league cup final, I was heading towards the turnstiles when I noticed him getting his photo taken with a fan, without a thought I went over to him and asked him if he would pose for a selfie with me, he happily agreed and I had a few words with him, he was friendly and open and was really looking forward to the occasion, I told him I thought he was doing a great job and to just to carry on doing what he was doing, he thanked me then he was off.
I think we should be grateful for all he done for this club.

Just watched the speeches part of his USA funeral service on you tube. My overriding thought is that we probably didn’t realise what we had having him at our helm. Wish I had have had a chance to shake him by the hand and say thank for for choosing us. RIP Ron.
