This website was understandably laughed at earlier in the season and it was hard to argue with those but I think I’m general it is relatively accurate.

It still has us as being likely to finish 3rd (I think, if I’m reading that right anyway)

People who understand these things better than I do can probably drill down a bit further than I can but interesting it has is 3rd considering the season we’ve had up to this point.

It’s an odd season. The form before WC break and just after it felt catastrophic and if it continued we’d have been hoping we didn’t drop to the bottom of the table, but a decent little run and we’ve only won one less game than Hearts in third.

Even if we managed to sneak a few more draws in that bad run and we’d be looking a good bet for third.

Sorry, I’ve maybe (probably) misread it, I used to check a site and I’m sure the xg was linked to expected league position. I’ve maybe quickly looked at the wrong site there though.

Has Hearts pipping us to third by about a point, but with us having the significantly better underlying numbers over the course of the season.

really think if we'd had Nisbet fit all season (never mind the dodgy VAR calls) we'd be sitting third right now - as from the start of the season right up to the Killie/Ross County games (where we were genuinely terrible) we'd been missing boat loads of chances, even in the games we won.
