Congratulations to Hoppe on his goal. But MOM is stretching it a bit.
I would have gone with Egon-Riley. Solid, reliable.

Youan looked really sharp again (still needs to stop over complicating things though). Thought Jeggo looked solid throughout the game as well.

Fish and Jeggo both outstanding. Fish MOM but Jeggo is a very clever player who reads the game, anticipates and sniffs out danger Vcc and a very good organiser.
Fish very composed and we look much safer at the back with him and CJ coming in

I'm bewildered by how he manages to keep hold of the ball at times. I wish he would just shoot sometimes though! Probably would have got his goal today if McGeady didn't get injured.

Fish or Egan-Riley for me.
Thought Campbell, Jeggo and Hanlon all played well too. No one really had a bad game, albeit McGeady seemed to have his boots on the wrong feet for a spell, but those 5 stood out for me.
Youan was exciting but there was too much of the 30 touches when 3 would do today for my liking. He could and should have been more clinical.

It was a very complete team performance where everyone played a decent part and I didn't think anyone was anywhere near being poor.
Fish probably edged it for me from Jeggo and Egan Riley.
Henderson would have been in the running had he got more than an hour, and personally I loved Youan's performance, even if it has probably led to the coronary care unit at the ERI being a bit busier than usual tonight going by some of the agitation his performance caused amongst the older gentleman demographic near me.

On the plus side how good is it having a discussion about who deserves MoM again?!

Fish for me, but there were some very good performances, that first half was as good as we have played all season, could easily have been 3 - 0 up by half time. Pleased for Hoppe that he scored and he did look good at finding space, but MOM ... nah.
Agree about Youan by the way, he had an excellent game but actually spoiled it a bit by over complicating things, there had to have been at least 5 times where he was on for a left foot shot but didn't take it on or where he could have made something happen with a pass but held onto the ball.

There were some good performances but it was Fish by a country mile.
He’s up there with Rob Jones for heading ability and is really pretty decent with the ball as well.

Surprised it wasn't Fish. Not only did he score a goal but was defensively solid. Hoppe scored, but really should have had a 2nd.

It happens and isn’t really a big deal in the grand scheme of things.
We beat Livi 4-0 on Xmas eve, dominated the game and had a player score a double but Marshall got MOM on for his double penalty stop despite having nothing to do for 85 minutes.

When the motm announcer mentioned, "...goal scorer..." I assumed it would be Fish.
But CJ was the only other contender for me.
We've had plenty loan signings from big English clubs over the years, most of whom disappointed - these two boys look quality.

We spoke about this on the way back from the game, pretty surprised that Hoppe got MOM, thought Fish was the stand out for me. CJ played solid but, for me anyway, didn’t stand out as much as some have mentioned, a few stray balls. Interesting that Jeggo has been highlighted as we agreed that it’s quite rare to see defensive midfielders being awarded MOM mainly down to what what they’re asked to do in that role.
Biggest compliment I can give him is that he’s not stood out, if that makes sense, he’s not lost a runner, he’s not made basic errors, he’s not giving the ball away etc. Usually when a DM stands out it’s for the wrong reasons, I don’t think it’s any coincidence that we’ve looked more solid since he’s played, neither do I think it’s a coincidence that our other midfielders, many of whom are more gifted on the ball, have found better form. Keep up the great ‘unseen’ work Jimmy👏👏

It’s good to be debating who should’ve been MOTM because there are too many candidates, rather than many games over the past couple of seasons where it’s been hard to choose cos everyone was gash.

If it’s the passage I’m thinking of; we had 2 or 3 really nice incisive passes to him, he was travelling at speed and had no choice but to try and take it wide, and then ran into 3 defenders, who he then beat and set up Henderson who almost scored. There were a few grumbles that Yousn should have stayed centre and taken a shot but rewatching it it looked like the way the ball came to him he had no choice.

Youan looks a nightmare to play against times (nightmare to play with at times too tbf) but someone who can change direction and keep the ball under control in the box like that should win his fair share of penalties. Whether we like it or not, that's a fair attribute in the modern game.
There was also one time during the first half when we were defending a corner that he picked the ball up on the edge of our box and drove forward with a pretty seriously impressive turn of speed. The ability to get Hibs up the park from such situation is one of the things that made Boyle such an important player for us so it was really welcome to see someone else show the ability to do it. The poorest of Hibs sides have appeared one paced and have struggled to get out in such situations so it felt pretty significant to me.
Youan had a good game and he's the perfect blend of skill, athleticism and flawed madness that you just have to have somewhere in a Hibs team.

93% pass completion from 59 passes is excellent for a central midfielder.

Yes, I noticed that too. He never stopped running looking for the space in behind them, but the ball rarely came to him. I keep saying, if only, we can find that midfielder who can unlock the space with a pass. Very impressed with Hoppe.
However, Fish was my man of the match. He was excellent.
Special mention to Egan-Riley. First time I've seen him and I thought he was very tidy in all aspects of his game. Also, Jeggo combined well with him too, leaving Campbell to be more influential.
Also, good to see Cadden, Hanlon, Cabraja and Henderson all putting in much better displays compared to late. Funny, thought they were deemed not good enough by many :stirrer:.
Going by the scores on the BBC website, there's not a lot between that for the best and worst scoring player. So highlights it was a good all-round team performance.

That is a point that's not made often enough. Arguing about MOM between two players should be viewed as good news never mind where three or four are involved.
