Not sure how I feel about this. Obviously I still hold him in high regard for his Hibs days but he is nevertheless part of the rotten to the core SFA who have turned a blind eye to Sevco's BS for decades. Does Sevco's hand get strengthened against possible UEFA financial penalties with him climbing the ladder? Don't know the answer to that but I doubt it's going to hurt them.

I always thought Rod Petrie done a really good Job at Hibs and you only have see the fantastic stadium we have now and I wish him every success . On the lighter side of things I remember when he was sitting with Lennon in the stand and thought his face was priceless 😂.

I liked Rod Petrie because he always appeared very respectable and professional. I remember once sitting in the Links Tavern one afternoon having a pint or two and there was Rod Petrie sitting around a table with his associates. They spent hours speaking about nothing else other than Hibernian over a few pints. I wish him all the best.
I was just starting to warm to Rod after his cheeky 'exuberance' quote in 2016. Then I found out that the old chap was actually two years younger than me.
Devastated!! 😪

Petrie is just one man amongst many, perhaps he'd be quite happy to start disciplining the OF, only for others to block his attempts to do so.
And at UEFA, he would be one of 11, he's unlikely to be capable of wielding power to such a degree that he'd be able to let Sevco off. I'd also have to assume that the Executive committee is perhaps separate from the committee that handles disciplinary matters

Needs to change the rules to allow the teams that participated in the the first European Cup have a free pass to all future champions league competitions.

Hopefully he has done nothing to benefit the Huns. Or Celtc, or HOMFC. Or Airdrie. There are probably others I can add to that list too.

Absolutely nothing. Sectarianism is theee blight in our country. It is mostly perpetuated through football. Nothing has changed and unless there us a will bu those in charge we will never move forward. Have you ever seen sectarianism on a tolerated scale outside football and “walks”?

That's along the lines of what I alluded to earlier, if he had no Hibs connection we'd be accusing him of being part of the problem at the unfit for purpose SFA, which he is in my opinion. How does Scottish football benefit from him climbing the greasy pole when he is currently fiddling while Scottish fitba' burns?

Am I imagining things or did he not take a fairly lengthy leave of absence from his SFA role due to ill health?
Given his tenure has coincided with covid and his own health problems (if I'm not making that up) then it's hard to really judge his performance in the top role.

We could judge him if he had any transparency. He’s had long enough to talk about his vision and how he sees the SFA moving forward. As usual we’re met with silence, maybe one day we will get the details of the fabled “5 year plan”.
His reward for running the football side of the club into the ground, before allowing Dempster to sort his mess, was the SFA presidency. We all know he was appointed so he could continue as before and not affect the gravy train everyone has been on for decades. We might get another review of Scottish football that doesn’t go anywhere alongside all the others though.

The SFA's vision, which incidentally sits with the Chief Executive to implement, is in the SFA's Strategic Plan, which is easily found online. It's not Petrie's vision, nor should it be. The SFA is a member-led orgaanisation and his role is administration of the elements that fall within the SFA's remit.
As for the comment about running things into the ground, it is thoroughly depressing to see the old negative muck coming back to the fore again. Since the day i first posted on here and long before that, and for a long time after that the Petrie-haters would invent some rubbish to smear him with. And eventually, when it was finally refuted to the point they couldn't keep doing so, they would just shift onto something new, with no acknowledgement that they had posted a load of malicious keech. And that was because hey were too busy posting newly made-up malicious keech. The car park monies, the ownership of East Mains, the transfer budgets etc etc etc.
Bogeymen are meant to be invented for children's scary stories. Not created by middle-aged men (and it usually was/is) to meet their need to be angry about something.

Calling out the malicious criticism, of which there has been, is fair. However I’m not sure why you have brought it up with me or my post. I specifically said he ran the football side of the club into the ground, culminating in what Dempster inherited. I’ve always gave Petrie credit for the infrastructure. However, I’ve also thought spending, and spending well, an unplanned windfall in the golden generation was the easy bit. Building the infrastructure while still remaining competitive on the park was the difficult part and what he failed at.

I brought up the stuff about the vision etc at the SFA in direct response to your post. The rest was broader (look at the last sentence) but I do disagree that 'he ran the football side of the club into the ground'. We paid good money for managers and they had good money to work with. The easy response is to say he picked poor managers but practically no one on here knows who expressed an interest, what their demands were and how they came over at interview. When I heard Tony Mowbray was going to be our manager I couldnt make sense of it at all, why would we appoint him? With Collins I was surprised and somewhat alarmed - it felt like a cheap option who had been a favourite as a player, to make it more palatable.
That's the luxury of being a fan I suppose. We can post our view on places like this but I suspect hardly any of us away from here feature on message boards or social media more widely, getting slated left, right and centre by people who don't know all the facts but know what their opinion is.

Rod Petrie helped advise Sir Tom farmer through his rescue of HIBERNIAN FC from receivership in 1991 , he was chairman and chief executive of our football club for over 20 years and done a exceptional good job at our club and I wish him every success in his Uefa election.

Everyone since the Hands off Hibs campaign has done an exceptional job, including Rod Petrie. Under Rod Petrie we engineered an almost brand new stadium, which at the time he took a lot of stick for as some Hibernian supporters felt that the money would be better spent on the park, but we are now thankful for this as we are now enjoying higher attendances than before.

Think we had made a profit 4 years running up to the golden generation being sold off too. I remember him getting heavily criticised at the time though as you say when you see our stadium and training facilities there's alot to be grateful to him for as it must have been a hard time in the circumstances to do his job at us .

Not as rare as you would think I’d say!
Anyone who remembers their Jimmy Sandison era will loathe them forever.
Still remember his face when conceding the penalty in the Skol Cup semi against Dunfermline that ultimately let us win the cup (don’t fancy our chances against ‘the diamonds!’!…over 30 years later and it still makes me laugh!

Diddy's Dirty Diamonds with their strict policy of "never mind the ball, get the man". Think half of them were ex-Hearts.
The relegation play off win over them was sweet - an own goal gave us a narrow lead from the home leg and we hammered them at Broadwood.
