Having tea with the family tonight and the young one said his pal was teaching him eggy language. I couldn’t believe it we used to talk like that when I was at primary in Leith, anyone else remember this? For those that don’t know you basically threw egg in the middle of a word for most words of the sentence and your teachers and parents couldn’t understand.

I can’t believe we used to talk like this^ 😂It took some getting used to and it annoyed the hell out of my parents and Teachers, I was pretty crap at it whilst some of my mates were quite fluent in eggy. They probably still speak it to this day 😀

Even as a schoolboy I thought it was stupid. Nothing's changed.

Even as a schoolboy I thought it was stupid. Nothing's changed.Of course it was, as were many things we done as daft kids, pretty harmless but a good way to be gobby to my Teachers and parents without them having a clue what I was saying.

My wife and I still speak like this when we don't want the kids to know what we are talking about.

My mum said she they spoke it in her day and that was a good 40 years ago. So the chances are the teachers spoke it aswell. Just never let on. 😂

I always thought this was a Dundonian thing?
We didn't do any of it when I was at school but my mate had these weird languages that he could slip into with his mates from home (the guy in question is Christian Dailly's cousin).
One example was the thing they do in the chorus of 'Wasted Little DJs" by the View, where they flip the words about and say the parts of the words in the wrong order. He and his mates could slip into this quite comfortably and baffle you with it.
We did this and also the ordi language, ord instead of egg.
