Can't remember many or any claiming he was a future Scotland captain. Clearly a player with loads of potential and has played many more good games for Hibs than bad. You are obviously keen to talk the guy down which is cool.

Huge potential but too many mistakes which cost us in a lot of games. None more so than the cup derby this season when we were on top in the game and he didn’t deal with a long ball then made a terrible foul. Stupid basic defending errors. Add to that his behaviour towards team mates for making the same sort of mistakes he made wasn’t a good look. Wasn’t fussed is he stayed or moved on tbh.

Still a young central defender. Can't really blame him for the cup defeat how many chances did we butcher. Nowt wring with a more experienced player demanding better from others.

Porto could have just stayed at the centre half position and blootered the ball forward all day long.

He could do that all day with his eyes shut, the reason he got a move and much bigger wages is because he can play football.

He should maybe of done that in the Hearts game instead of trying to "play football". Since he moved to Watford, hes given the ball away more than any other Watford player, he can play football, just not very well.

There’s plenty wrong with screaming at young laddies, particularly when he’s made the mistake in the first place. There’s been numerous posts this season alone of him bollocking younger players after he’s overhit/misplaced passes. That’s not demanding better.

also, we can’t give him leeway saying he’s young whilst watching him not give younger teammates the same leeway

In all honesty I'm more confident with him out of the team now.

Can't say I have seen that much of that. Who has he screamed at? It is professional football not a game of 5s.

Ryan Poteous has left the building. He wanted to go, we are playing better now he has left. Life moves on. Right now Will Fish looks like an upgrade to me.

I've been critical of Portos defending at times but he's a good footballer. He plays a lot of high risk passes though so he loses possession more than others who keep it safer.

He bawled and shouted at a lot of players in various games this season. Plenty of that on display. Not a good look.

It's safe to say Porto will be excellent at championship level in England.

I know it will frustrate many on here to hear it but it's true.

He was good yesterday apart from the goal which not seen back as was at the other end.

His general play though he cruised the game. Standout and looked way better than his other center back.

League Cup Final day today

Looking back at last year’s final you could see in the last 20 minutes as Celtic held on time wasting 2-1 up Porto was desperate to score driving us forward playing as a utility centre forward trying his hardest shooting on sight trying to take the tie into extra time giving it everything he had

As Hibs fans it is the very least we ask for and Porto always gave 100% for the cause in every game

He was one of us living the dream

not usually when it’s their mistake though.

There was a lot of discussion about it last summer on here when he was criticised for screaming at melkerson for showing for a pass that Ryan mis-hit and blamed melkerson for in one of the matches preseason. It’s happened several times since, and been commented on.

interesting that you want Ryan to get some leeway for being a young player and his mistakes chalked up to that, but apparently he’s fine not to give the same leeway to young players and you’re seemingly good with it.

A lot of history getting rewritten on this thread and others (not necessarily you)

How do you know what is said though? Sometimes we appear to be too soft and nice nowt wrong with standards to be set. Don't have any issue with regulars highlighting to younger players some things need to be better. Comparison with Porto a first team regular and Melkersen a promising but pretty disappointing signing I would hope the younger player should be keen to take advice and please team regulars imo. To be honest you are right in that the way any advice is delivered is key also. Anyway Porto has gone hope he does wel.

Porteous playing high risk passes and losing the ball doesn't make him a good footballer. Footballers who can excecute high risk passes on a consistent basis are good footballers.

You also have to play for the team. Playing a cannonball of a pass to someone then berating them when they take a poor first touch doesn't make anyone better.

Bilic sacked as Watford Manager and Chris Wilder installed as new manager. Not ideal when you've just signed for a club and they change manager.

Watford are surely going for the record of most managers employed in a 10 year spell :greengrin

Good article and the biggest point for me is the total corruption of officials in Scotland. I doubt he has changed the way he plays but because he doesn't have the reputation and the officials are more professional all of a sudden there is no disciplinary problem. He comes across really well with both grounding and ambition and a good chunk of humour. The move will do him a lot of good and might end up earning us more than if he had stayed depending on our sell on clause

Aye, he really shafted us. Didn't sign a contract we didn't offer until last minute, continued putting his body on the line throughout his time year and got no support from the club during what personal attacks from the SFA and the press.

John McGinn is one of my favourite Hibs players if not the favourite in over 55 years of watching Hibs. I would have no issues whatsoever in travelling to watch John McGinn playing for Aston Villa providing I didn't miss a Hibs game because of it.

I've followed Steven Fletchers career closely as well.

Don't see what your issue is to be honest.
