Trying to get a Keith M friendly thread title 🤣

If you could have one wish, hibs related if possible what would it be ?

Mines is simple, my late Father in Law was like a Father to me, I looked up to him and gave him nothing but the utmost respect. I travelled all over Scotland following hibs with him and laughed, cried and shared many great memories with him at games and both league cup finals

Sadly he never got to see hibs win the Scottish cup, the one game where we should have shared hugs and tears. The fitting anthem Sunshine On Leith played at his funeral service, gawd I miss the big man

If only I could have shared that special day with him 💚

I'd have just ponied upn on the credit card and ignored my adult responsibilities and witnessed the SC win with my best mate who sadly died 4 years ago. As far as Hibs stuff goes, that's the clear, clear winner

Wish I'd gone to the AEK Athens game. I missed it and the atmosphere that night has gone down in folklore.

Not strictly football, but our works cricket team had a summer friendly against Hearts for a few years in the 80s. One year a kid who had just signed for them played- Robbo. We were under strict instructions not to bowl short and fast at them, but I wish I had ignored our captain.

Spot on. And the captain was a killie fanatic so he would have supported me years later

Sometimes when attempting a bouncer a beamer slips out instead.

It means do serious damage to the batsman whilst having an innocent look on your face. "Sorry, the ball just slipped out of my hand, can I help you to the ambulance".

Social class? I've never met anyone then or since who hated the Huns as much as our captain.

The moment David Gray headed the winner in 2016. A mind-numbing, out of body experience.

My wish is that John Brownlie never broke his leg, it affected the whole team that season who knows what we could have achieved that year if that never happened.

It really was, went so slow.

I've been through a lot of videos on YouTube and from my view of the goal, this is the closest video that comes close to compare to it for me.

Fair enough. Your captains sounds like a good guy.

2 things : Wish I had went to the New Years game in 1973 instead of staying up late at a party. Wish I hadn’t had a slipped disc in 2016 and couldn’t make the cup final. Maybe I’m a boggy as we won both.

He was, sadly no longer with us. When I went to his funeral I toyed with wearing my Hibs tie but decided against it. To be met at the door by his son wearing his dad's Killie tie, who asked me where the green tie was!

After they won the cup (97?) He told me that he hoped we would win it in my lifetime as he wanted me to experience what he had felt. A real fitba fan and thoroughly good human being.

me neither - under pain of death from the sogra (mother in law) and wifie as my son had been born 5 days earlier… supped on a solitary bottle of Miller as the goals reigned in… I out the foot down for going to ER tho - thanks muppet pitch invaders giving the Jambo Polis an excuse…

The same applies to Alex Edwards if he hadn’t been suspended for 8 weeks.

My dad became quite seriously ill a couple of weeks before the cup final and was rushed to hospital in a very bad way.

He thankfully recovered in due course, but not close to being able to make it to the game.

We still go to games from time to time, but it felt like someone was missing at the end of that game. I'd have loved to see his reaction in real time and give him a hug. Just wasn't the same having to travel home to spend the evening with him.

I wish I had not pawned my HIBEES gold ring in 2006, and instead found another way of amounting the money for a new car.

I also ask for forgiveness for selling my late brother's Hibernian season ticket in 2006 after a family feud.

Apart from that, I have no regrets.

Didn't go to the 2007 league Cup final 😕

I gave my ticket to my Uncle who was travelling up from down south at the time and couldn’t get a ticket.

I also missed the 2016 final due to work commitments…

So my one wish past or future would be to see Hibs win a cup in the flesh as I was 3 years old at the Skol cup win.

My one wish was that Colin Campbell was awarded a penalty in the 1979 Scottish Cup Final, I'm sure super Ally would have tucked it away with only minutes left on the clock.

I was there but was just a blur, I was only a kid at the time

That we'd won the inaugural European Cup. It may not have seemed such a big deal at the time but to have been the first team to win it would have been a brilliant thing for Hibs. A couple of years earlier and we'd have had the team to do it but it came just too late for the Famous Five.

Oh and I guess I'd probably have Celtic beat Hearts in the 2012 Scottish Cup semi...

Back in May 2016 I’d have a re-think about nicking out for a pee at 90+1 just to be comfortable for the extra time. :grr:

Funny, how after all the things that have happened in the 40 years I have been supporting Hibs, is that this particular incident is carved into my brain like a tattoo.

Yip even more so than the Colin Campbell incident - he was calling out to be pulled down for a professional foul

Another in the long list of derbies where we were the better team and came away with nothing

For me to go back to the skol Cup final and tell my grandad not to go for a piss so we could celebrate the win together, he ended up getting lost towards the end, found him back at the car after all the celebrations.

Anyway, Id do anything just to spend one more time with him for our chats about Hibs, even though he's been gone near 30 years, still never far from my thoughts. (is someone cutting onions near me? 😂😅)
