I genuinely did know of him and more than a little surprised we got him to Easter Road. Looking forward to seeing him and expecting good things.

Not meaning to be too critical but Hoppe seemed to really be going places and his career looks to have badly stalled in the last year. Why this should be I don’t know. But I hoppe he resurrects it here.

Hoppe he’s not another treatment table signing.

He obviously played in the friendly during the World Cup break but I don't really remember him. I remember some a big thug up front playing against us but the more I think about it, I think that was the Norwich game I'm thinking of.

Anybody remember him from the friendly? If so, what was he like?

How is his surname pronounced? Hoppy? Hope? Hoppay? Hoppeh?

Plenty song options though.
Some reworking of XTCs Life begins at the hop perhaps?
Or more obviously, Danny and the Juniors…

Lets go Matthew Hoppe (oh baby - optional :greengrin)

Watching Matty scoring, hear the Hibees roaring Matthew Hop hop hop.

Can I be the first to welcome you to the club and wish you every success while you are here.

Quite poor of club representatives if they didn't welcome him.

Roughly how long will it take for his clearance to play take ? Given Nissy injury we could do with him being able to come off the bench v st Mirren

I asked my Boro supporting mate about him. He doesn't say much, but here's his reply:

He came in under Warner and hasn't really had much time on the pitch to be honest. He's played a few games for the U23s and scored a few. He's recently been off with the US team. He looks quite quick and can beat a man but genuinely haven't seen enough of him to tell you he'll be a world beater. Think there's potential there so hoping you'll turn him into the finished article!

If you mean work permit, he must already have one as he was at Boro. If you mean FIFA international clearance, this is normally quick (that's how both Boyle and Jeggo could both play almost immediately after signing). Can't see any reason Hoppe wouldn't be available on Saturday.

Ach well he is young and wants game time so he might be a good fit, good to see a player willing to move to get first team action rather than just sitting there picking up a wage, shows a bit of ambition, the timing of his move might be perfect with Nisbet looking like he pulled a hamstring on Tuesday. Best of luck to him I hope he gets some game time on Saturday.

Looks like quite similar player to Nisbet hopefully does a job for us.

Damn, that means his hands on knees blowing out his bahookie after ten minutes and continually being offside

I loved big Colin in fact when I was picking up a new bike in Musselburgh a few years back I don’t know if I was more excited about getting the bike or literally turning a corner and walking straight into him lol

A lot more mobile and pacey than I expected.

Will take him a while to get used to the pace and physically.

Weather was brutal and service to him was just as bad.

Hard to judge but has some attributes where you can see Hoppe….

Yep just looked a bit off it physically however as you say his movement looked good which is a big plus in our league.

Thought he was poor to be honest. He’s either not very strong or just didn’t expect the physicality.

Didn't look up to much today, but he's been chucked in to a game earlier than expected with minging conditions.

We'll be seeing more of him as there are no other options, keen to see more of him at Easter road and see what he's got about him. Anyone who scores a hat trick in the bundesliga must have something about them.

He looked like he was made of rubber. He was literally bouncing about all over the place. Thought he looked better after we scored , was more involved and held it up a little .
