Depends on your generation but the 80's was before my time. Aberdeen have always been a pretty insignificant club to me. See them as club around the same size as Dundee United who struggle to sell 9k season tickets even when doing well in a one club city. The aging element of the Scottish media big them up like they're still a huge club when in reality two of their biggest achievemens in the last 30 years are a couple of defaulted relegation escapes.
