I should have made it top 10 mate but did think I'd give you all a challenge . Now it's backfired on me abit as I'm struggling too 😂 . Must check out a couple of your songs that I'm not familiar with though I'm sure I will enjoy listening to them 👍.

Impossible to answer and all depends on what mood I'm in. I could write a list now and it would be outdated tomorrow.

If it was top 5 albums I'd find it easier but this is impossible given my age!
Up to the late 70s it would include
Hey Jude - The Beatles
Honky Tonk Women - Rolling Stones
Marquee Moon - Television
God Save The Queen - Sex Pistols
(White Man) In Hammersmith Palais - The Clash
But there would need to be something by Bowie and Squeeze in there too.
Next list would probably start with I Am The Resurrection by the Stone Roses but just can't narrow it down to 5 yet.

(4) Spain train= Chris de burgh .
(5) shakin all over = Johnny kid and the pirates.

This is one of those impossible tasks as it always really depends on what kind of mood you're in, even a top 10 would be difficult. I was born in early 80's so my musical taste was influenced by the incredible music scene of the mid 90's, although I was trained in classical music for a bit in my early teens (I'll refrain from sticking any classical music on this list though!):
Roachford - The Way I Feel
Jeff Buckley - Last Goodbye
Roy Orbison - Beautiful Dreamer (First song I have vivid memories of hearing, it was from my grandads old vinyl record collection. He died before I was born so this is my invisible connection to him)
Morcheeba - Otherwise
The Verve - Lucky Man
Seems obscene not to choose a Blur/Oasis/Radiohead song as these three bands defined the era I loved so much IMO, I could swap Lucky Man out for around a dozen others from these three bands, but I didn't, so there we are :greengrin.

'Getting Better' for me. One band I always regret not seeing live, although from memory I think they had a bit of a stooshie with their record label by the time I was heading out to gigs in the late 90's, so they weren't really on the scene at that point.

Love your clash selection - my fav from them too.
The Rolling Stones - let it loose (this is the only certainty in my top 5 and it’s number 1)
Justin Townes Earle - time you waste
Townes Van Zandt (his version isn’t my favourite but it’s his song) - Pancho and Lefty
Jason Isbell - cover me up
The Eagles - the last resort
*edit - in fact, La cienega just smiled (Ryan Adams) has to be in there too, so struggling already, Eagles probably have to drop-out

Like both of those (incidentally seen both Steve and EmmyLou earlier this month). Steve Earle would be my favourite solo artist, and EmmyLou Harris not far off favourite female singer!
Anyway, to answer your question - 100% Jason Isbell and Elizabeth Cook. Thoroughly recommend it if you haven’t heard. They also done Townes’ ‘Tecumseh Valley’

I could make a top 5 of Squeeze that would rival anything. Probably the most underrated band ever.
